No improvement under Johnson.

Totally agree mate.

All 3 managers should have had us as hot favourites in every single game at this level.

Bigging sides up lets shite performances/results seem ok to players.
Disgrace some results these 3 horrific years.

100% whether the players act like billy big bollocks or not there are no excuses, our squad is at least as good as anything in this division and i am pretty sure we are the only club with players who have played in the Premier except maybe Hull? The managers have a lot to answer for imho...FCUK sake we are chasing Lincoln fucki n city !!! bigging up Shrewsbury and Northampton the other week what a joke !

There are glimpses. But missing potentially key players and lack of time on the training pitch to date with COVID and three games a week.

Was always going to evolution rather than revolution. It’s just slower than hoped.
Desperately need pace in the side ( we all keep saying it but we never get any) and a striker and would probably be fine.

Diamond, Gooch and Hume have pace. O’Nien is an improvement on most of the plodders too. He’s playing his pace when available.

Strikers rely on consistent service. Wyke proved he will score goals with good service. O’Brien linking and the pair work well together. However as soon as the service stops they aren’t going to create anything for themselves!

Although points per game wise it hasn’t improved I reckon he’s got four or five points more than Parkinson would have with the same set of circumstances.

However, at this moment in time, we have had a shambles of an infrastructure. The club has been rudderless. Any manager has been set to fail.

I dont know whether he is going to be a good manager or not. This squad is finished here and wont be getting new contracts, and its not his squad. So he will get next season without doubt.

aha so our players are good enough and it's down to man management i.e the manager?

yet our new manager said today that he knew Shrewsbury would be tought side, they are a good side etc etc, I mean we are talking about Shrewsbury we should be steamrollering them shouldnt we?
No, they had some good form coming in to the game. People seem to think we should automatically be better. With a couple of exceptions who aren't playing at the minute we have an average div 1 players.

Genuine question, not even judging the manager, but I keep people saying he needs time to get players to understand his "style of play"

well what is it?

because once criticism from bristol fans was that he didn't have a style
No surprise that none of the fanboys took up the opportunity to reply to this........

12 points from 8 games isn’t it?

Parkinson had 23 from 13? (A draw under the caretaker iirc)

If I’m correct, that’s 1.77 PPG for Parkinson and 1.5 PPG for Johnson. These stats ultimately mean nowt, but technically results haven’t improved.

Are we really going to count his first game, when he took to the sideline with an hour or two notice?
Discount that and do the maths again.

thats guesswork. Parkinson didn’t stop picking up points. It was turgid, shocking to watch and really primitive but we still get some results. Johnson hasn’t changed all that much.

ok,let’s give him the benefit and not include it (even though he made amendments to the stating XI at the final hour). His record is still the same as Parkinson’s rather than being worse than Parkinson’s.

He may make us better eventually but on current evidence he hasn’t. Arguing otherwise is factually wrong.

He has had, (arguably), three of his best players missing for at least half of the eight games he's been in charge of.

I'm prepared to see how we improve with the return of Hume, O'Nien and Gooch.

MacFadzean has been to blame for more goals in the last three weeks than Hume has in a couple of seasons, already.

Im not calling for him to be removed. He’s had some mitigating factors since he arrived. I’m just saying things haven’t improved; because they haven’t.

They have. Our movement has improved, for the most part. Our pressing game has definitely improved. We're being let down by some very sloppy defending, primarily from one player, unfortunately. Our centre forward has definitely improved.

When we get Hume, Gooch and O'Nien back, we'll improve further still.

Its easy saying when those 3 come back, but it doesn't work like that. You have to assume we will get more injuries along the way. Probably the likes of Willis again, even losing Wyke for a period of games. The chances are we will be without a key player/s at every stage between now and the end of the season. We just don't know how it'll pan out at the minute.

Not worried about losing Charlie. We have Danny Gra...

Oh f*ck.

There is a common denominator here over the past 10 years and it’s not the managers we have been through.

We have to get it right off the pitch to give the coach a chance. Far too early with LJ, especially considering the intro he has had and who he has had to select from.

We are missing a striker that scares defenders with pace and turns defenders. Both strikers are playing better under Johnson to his credit but we’re stilling missing that quality.

In Johnson's defence, he has been saddled with playing without a lot of players...playing McFadzean, alone, probably accounts for the difference in accrued points. Until their injuries, Hume, O'Nien and Flanagan all looked good. Gooch has been a mile off match fit, since Johnson arrived. Those four might make a huge difference (or not, probably the 'or not' - it is the Sunderland way).
