How many European countries allow smacking of children?

Do you ever squeeze your missus' arse? Sexual assault that if you do it to a stranger. Or a child.

You would be arrested for hitting your next door neighbour's child. (I'm assuming that at least people think hitting your next door neighbour's child is not accetpable behaviour.)
Yet some people on here are happy to hit their own children and just don't see the hypocrisy.

Do you smack because they don't understand reasoning? If they can't understand reasoning, then they equally can't understand why you're snacking them. You're not teaching them anything useful or moral, just that they should fear their parents for inflicting pain on them, which is unacceptable, lazy and immoral.

It might get results, but it would also get results to teach me to put the toilet seat down, if every time I failed a giant came after me and was allowed physically hit me - and I was at least capable of understanding why.

I've answered the points raised and nobody has explained why it is acceptable other than in English law (currently) to hit your own children but not other people's children.

You think I have been "rinsed" and you think I have "lost the plot" because I am questioning why people think it is OK to hit children?

Its much simpler that way , can you imagine a call from your next door neighbour to go around & smack their mischievous child & vice versa

Hang on a second. The OP reckons my mam and dad, who have been happily married for 46yrs, raised 3 kids, and who he’s never met have failed as parents due to the fact they’d on occasion smack us as kids, yet he’s single and seeing his kids a couple of days a week after a failed marriage 😂😂 Jesus man.

Interestingly this was the last time mine got a clip. I can't explain what electrocution is to a 4y old. If she got electrocuted it'd be a shite tonne worse than a wrap on the hand.

If she associates a minor amount of pain/shock for doing something wrong or dangerous I'm OK with that. Same reason I don't headbutt walls anymore.

Do you ground your wife, or stick her on the naughty step? No? Because it's not the same thing is it? Otherwise any sort of discipline you give to your child is classed as domestic abuse, you'd just have to let your child to grow up and become an awful person. It's a form of child neglect.
