7 goals a season in the Austrian league, who would have guessed he wouldn't have been good enough for premier League.

Newcastle were much better when they weren’t spending daft cash. Found some hidden gems over years.

Fan pressure over Owen still being their record signing led to this overspending. I took one look at Almiron and thought what the hell are they doing signing him for that much. Then double the amount on Joelinton.

Agreed, its not just them like, I remember our last season in Prem, despite Moyes spending 35 mill ( a lot at the time), and been in so much debt, fans still wanted Short to spend more n more, thst was the issue at the time.

I am not sure where this obsession with spending 10s of millions came from, should always be looking at good value.

I’d love to see the reaction in a club boardroom when a club rings up and says ‘hello it’s Newcastle United here..we’d like to offer you £40 million for Joe Linton’..’can we have a minute to think about it’.
My lasses best mate is going out with Burnleys goalkeeping coach who they recently signed from Hoffenheim (Fabian Otte) - been out with him a few times and asked about Joelinton who he worked with and he could not believe they were paying 40M so you can only imagine the boardroom.

As said elsewhere, Steve Nickson watched him loads.
There wasn't even any other clubs in for him.
No idea what they saw in him to pay £40m. Totally out of character for the club to do so, and on a player like that.
Worst signing ever. No idea why he still gets picked either. Bruce is shite but surely he can see that Joelinton is not good enough.
