Love seeing the crowd being allowed on to have a look at the pitch. I used to do that at county grounds during my school days.
There was always a groundsman in the middle who would tell anyone who was listening the effects of a green wicket, cracks on the pitch, and the effect of cloud covering.
I learned more about how to bowl in the lunch period at Chelmsford or The Oval or wherever the school was taking us than any coach.
