England T20 side confirms Pakistan tour in October 2021

George/ Poledancer’s DIY pub he did in Bangladesh in 2010 (where the hotels didn’t have drink and he had to arrange for imported lager) has gone down in England fan folklore from those who went.
It was class, as were his spray painted bedsheets scattered around the ground in Chittagong.

I'd only be interested in Georgetown or Port-of-Spain tbh. Would be nice to tick off the only test venue in South America.

Both of which are reckoned to be a bit unsafe for muggings.
As is Kingston.
Although if I was going that way for cricket, I'd prefer any of them over the resort destinations of Antigua or Barbados. Not much chance of convincing the missus of that though. Nice hotels and spas would probably swing it.
As regards Pakistan, I've heard that the hospitality is tremendous, much friendlier than India, but there are very obvious safety concerns at the moment.

Last time I looked visas were pricey.
An interesting side trip would be a multiple entry for India and watch the cricket in Lahore, crossing into Pakistan at Wagah, and seeing the weird pomp of the border opening/closing ceremony including the slamming of the gate.
Amritsar and Lahore are only 35 miles apart, so it would be possible to see and even stay at the Golden Temple, with free board and lodgings as well when on the Indian side.

Aye, few thousand white western cricket fans likely to cause some attention like

what attracts me to this is it won't be be a magnet for the barmy army types, who aren't really my cup of team tbh, although I appreciate the role they play

Me too.

As mentioned above, a few WI destinations, also UAE ( seems about 100 there), Bangladesh 200 in Chittagong, 400 in Dhaka in 2010, a lot less last time.

Also, we seem to tour in India every 4 years, we often seem to get Chandigarh, 100-200 there. Less than 200 at Rajkot- no drink.
Can't remember if it was 3000 or 6000 in Mumbai and loads in Chennai as well.
Very few in the out of town stadium (and I think dry town) of Nagpur. Haven't been though.

England fans are sparse in NZ, which is a bit of surprise as it is only 3 hours flight from Oz.

Major regret not going to NZ last time, although the cricket was terrible, grounds looked unreal

Fantastic country.
Amazing scenery, great hiking, fishing, beer, friendly people etc. Would love to see the cricket there as well.
Still, SA wasn't such a bad choice though.

Maybe could pop there after Ashes, if it goes ahead

how easy it to get tickets for those, I actually went when we won 3-1, but genuinely can't remember anything of how I got them, got feeling I had home tickets then walked round to the english lot

Lost Thomas Cook flights which makes options even less.

Aye been there done that with the resort venues and fancy somewhere different, those two or Kingston. Done SA so the safety aspect doesn’t bother me

Never been.
The only cricket I've seen in Oz was Oz v WI in the late 80s and some state games.

I think you’re being unkind on Barbados there mate. I know it’s pricey but if you drink and eat where the locals do (avoiding the big hotels where the tour groups are) it’s superb. Lovely people and very authentic. Reggae buses to the ground each day for $1.Fantastic.

On a sporting level it’s also a really good contest. I sometimes think of WI as a test minnow but when you stand back it’s an arrogant view really... only time in living memory that we’ve won there is 2004?

Fair enough.
I did stand outside the ground one time, next to the statue of Sobers and think that it would be nice one day to see a Test there.

The people were great, but apart from the wild East coast, it has a lot of very trendy shops and upmarket resorts for such a small island.

I'd happily watch cricket anywhere, but as mentioned by other posters, given the choice of where to go in the Windies, I'd choose Kingston, Georgetown or Guyana. They are much less sanitised.

But, tbh, and I hate generalising, the Caribbean is not my favourite part of the world.

Very broadly speaking, the islands, although beautiful are very similar, the food is not too varied, it is expensive and, as mentioned, difficult to get from one island to another.

That said, God knows when we'll tour again, and given the opportunity, I'd jump at it.

I’ve not been but apparently the hotels are mostly good for a drink so there’s still a good social side. I think the Ashes next winter will be ridiculously popular as SA was class (giving the people the taste for it) and there’s nigh on two years of pent up demand going into it.

If there’s no fans allowed to that due to nervousness on incoming tourists from the Aussie government then West Indies March/ April ‘22 will be ridiculous. The tourism boards there will be doing somersaults.
Yeah esp if they do the T20s all in Barbados

NZ is the best destination by far.
into Auckland , straight to car hire, just hit the gas and go.
My contact in the Dutch Cricket Board reckons they're all being played in Amsterdam and will be going ahead, but most likely behind closed doors.

Dodger than Cape Town and Jo’burg?

Oh yeah deffo
At least with Joburg you should be up Sandton which is safe as.
CT is ok but looked like it was getting worse imho.
Durban is the worst in SA by far
Interesting thanks mate. Always thought I’d fancy Kingston if we ever played there having done SA and survived. But aye was a stabbing right outside my hotel on that carnival night mind. The Saturday of the test I think it was. Not very late either it was while we were out having tea

A lot of the tour trips used to stay at Montego Bay and do the long bus trip each day to the cricket.
I guess if we ever did play there again then we would go as there would be a big group of us

£400 return with Etihad. Two hour stopover in Dubai or somewhere. Cricket stadium is a couple of miles from the airport so there'll be a few hotels nearby.

I'm tempted like, booked the time off graft just in case. See how the Covid/terrorism situation is.
