It was class, as were his spray painted bedsheets scattered around the ground in Chittagong.George/ Poledancer’s DIY pub he did in Bangladesh in 2010 (where the hotels didn’t have drink and he had to arrange for imported lager) has gone down in England fan folklore from those who went.
I'd only be interested in Georgetown or Port-of-Spain tbh. Would be nice to tick off the only test venue in South America.
Both of which are reckoned to be a bit unsafe for muggings.
As is Kingston.
Although if I was going that way for cricket, I'd prefer any of them over the resort destinations of Antigua or Barbados. Not much chance of convincing the missus of that though. Nice hotels and spas would probably swing it.
As regards Pakistan, I've heard that the hospitality is tremendous, much friendlier than India, but there are very obvious safety concerns at the moment.
Last time I looked visas were pricey.
An interesting side trip would be a multiple entry for India and watch the cricket in Lahore, crossing into Pakistan at Wagah, and seeing the weird pomp of the border opening/closing ceremony including the slamming of the gate.
Amritsar and Lahore are only 35 miles apart, so it would be possible to see and even stay at the Golden Temple, with free board and lodgings as well when on the Indian side.
Aye, few thousand white western cricket fans likely to cause some attention like
what attracts me to this is it won't be be a magnet for the barmy army types, who aren't really my cup of team tbh, although I appreciate the role they play
Me too.
As mentioned above, a few WI destinations, also UAE ( seems about 100 there), Bangladesh 200 in Chittagong, 400 in Dhaka in 2010, a lot less last time.
Also, we seem to tour in India every 4 years, we often seem to get Chandigarh, 100-200 there. Less than 200 at Rajkot- no drink.
Can't remember if it was 3000 or 6000 in Mumbai and loads in Chennai as well.
Very few in the out of town stadium (and I think dry town) of Nagpur. Haven't been though.
England fans are sparse in NZ, which is a bit of surprise as it is only 3 hours flight from Oz.
