I was at Cambridge in Jan 80 when he scored.
We were 3-1 up but it ended 3-3.

Any excuse to post this iconic photo, somewhat poignant with Sabella in there. Marangoni was a class player but he struggled with the pace of the English game. He sprinkled us with a bit of stardust and it was great to spot him walking round Durham where he must have been based.

His debut was on a December afternoon against Cardiff. He found the pace of the game hectic and at one point collided with a team mate and was almost knocked out.
The Shrewsbury game was on a bitter cold Friday night when some teams had switched their games from the Saturday before Christmas.
Our crowd, around 21000 was the highest that night and topped the turn out at Arsenal.
I remember he always seemed to be the one who was substituted but his ability on the ball was undeniable.

As for Claudio because of his build I think we expected Joe Bolton level tackling rather than the silky skills. Wasted talent for us.
