Lee Johnson deal officially done

Spoke well. Liked him and don't see him as Mr Chocolate . He has a poor squad albeit for four or five who are good enough and four or five who could improve. Pity transfer cap is in place but it is so dunno how he will get his type of player in.

Good luck.

Is he bringing his own team in or does the budget not stretch that far?
Nearly all his backroom staff are still with us, the exception being Jamie McAllister who left just after he did, was rumoured to be getting the managers job at Gloucester City in the National League North, but is apparently joining back up with LJ.

I think with the position we are in the Cowleys were our best bet........hope I'm wrong but this appears to be another mediocre "won't last long or make much difference" appointment.............lets see how long the contract is for....not that it makes much difference!
When the cowley brothers do really well elsewhere this will be an open sore.

Just watched his first interview. Says he likes to play bold. High press, play forward fast but not long, breaking lines, getting in behind etc. and likes to suffocate teams. Basically the opposite to us atm. Hopefully exciting times to come.

I’m quite impressed that he has taken charge of the team straight away and fucked Parkinson’s sidekick off, no fannying about watching from the stands. Good start in my eyes
It definitely indicates a that 1) he’s confident he can achieve a result without having properly worked with the team, and 2) that he’s been doing his homework on us before his appointment.

Don’t rate him and think it’s a poor short term appointment. But, as cringe as he can be, he does seem like a really nice man and it’ll be hard to hate him if all goes wrong, but very easy to get behind when things are going right. The story about Bailey and Ian Wright is wholesome enough to ignore the think tank vibe and dearth of tactical knowledge.

It is ridiculous...people are treating this appointment like a Greek tragedy. Go back to when we got rid of Jack Ross...Lee Johnson wouldn't have touched the job at the time. I don't think either party are punching above their weight here in our respective positions. He's not my first choice for certain but he's not the disaster some (particularly yourself) are making out.

It is a disgrace that we're languishing where we are buts it's no more tragic than your support and character assassination.

Give him a chance and he'll succeed or fail with the decent support for which we're renowned.

Get a grip.
So after 12 months and we aren't promoted and maybe in and about the play offs am I allowed to start a thread 'Lee Johnson out'? Are is that not the decent support we are renowned for?

Never heard of him, another backward step if true. Just looked at his record at previous clubs and I am not impressed.

Just watched his interview. I couldn’t agree more with what he is saying. It’s almost like he’s been reading my posts on here lately actually, it’s scary how many “boxes” he ticked that would be on my “what I want to see” list

He’ll be judged by results as always, but if we can see that he (and the rest) are trying to implement what he says he wants to implement, then he’ll be given plenty of time and support from me at least.
To be fair to the Sunderland fans, if they saw actual progress and a style of play they would be patient with the lad. When Parky played the youngsters for example in the cup games, SMB were quite positive about it despite losing that game
