Lee Johnson

Think a lot said the same of Parky and look what happened, we were right, a totally uninspiring appointment who isn't good enough to turn us around because he hasn't done it anywhere else with a lot more money to spend, I'm nailing my colours to the mast and saying he won't be in charge next Christmas. Would be deliriously happy to be proven wrong but my gut feeling is never that wrong despite the happy clapper in me always trying to see the best in bad appointments.
I wouldn’t say that, I thought Parkinson was an awful appointment due to the fact his style of play is slow and lump it, at least this lad is young and has a style of keep it on the floor with pace, like I say we are a league 1 club people suggesting Pearson and Howe etc are off their rockers as they’ve just recently been managing in the premier.

SAFC is now down the bottom of the barrel. They cannot go any lower but wait they will and they have... absolutely numpties in charge of the club. Zero ambition. How they ever got involved in Football is beyond me. They are the Michael Knightons of Sunderland.

Interesting reading the Bristol forum. They're much more fond of him than I'd been lead to believe on here.

One quote:

I never thought Johnson would take us up and I would've got rid of him a lot sooner, but reality is he improved us year on year (until last season) whilst losing his best player pretty much every season.

He's at a much bigger side if he does get the job, and if he can get it right they could do back to backs.

@LUBITSCH I see you're already on there with your pet lip over Cowley.

Sounds promising

Who would you have appointed mate? I think it’s safe to say we didn’t have a great pool to pick from

Joined some months ago Howard. No pet lip, just extreme disappointment. I wanted you and every other Sunderland supporter to have a team you could be proud of and enjoy watching. The Cowleys would have given us that team.

He was my last choice out of the linked candidates. However, may as well get behind him now.

Positives being, its a new set-up with a sporting director so hopefully we will now have a strategy going forward, as opposed to signing the likes of Danny Graham on the whim of one blokes fetish for big slow strikers. Johnson supposedly likes to play a decent brand of football. And he has given plenty of youth a chance and this new sporting director oversaw a very exciting crop of young players for Brum. That is something to be excited about at least, we were all crying for youth to get a chance and out of all the candidates (Cook, Cowley, Poyet), this set up will be most likely to promote that ideal.

And Parkinson is the worst manager in our history.

This. It’s frustrating like. I’m just over the moon he’s gone.

Haha yeah exactly. I think people have had their hands bitten as Parkinson was such a bad appointment but I hope it doesn’t mean that people jump over Johnson straight away.

If he shows a commitment to developing players he’ll get time from me. Parkinson was a disgrace on that front and it was my biggest gripe with him.
