It would be fascinating to hear the list of applicants, of which there was seemingly loads, to see how they’ve come to the conclusion that Johnson was the best fit.

Unless of course his references were impeccable.... has he ever managed Colchester?

Not sure if you're being sarcastic or not but he seems to address most of the issues I had with Parkinson. Plays to win, changes things up with subs and formations during the match and gives youth a chance.

By no means my preferred choice but I can't fathom people saying he's worse than Parkinson.
No sarcasm mate.
Nobody can be as bad as Parky.

So many idiots dismissing johnson - obvious upgrade

Overachieved at Bristol city

Clear way to play and identity
Wouldn’t necessarily say “overachieved”, but he had small improvements each year until last season. I have a concern over the winless runs he goes on but otherwise don’t think it’s that bad.

The way some on here are going on you’d think we’d reappointed Grayson!

Would take Grayson over Johnson, easily.

That's what everyone said in 1987.

do me a favour man. We’ve had plenty of these appointments and for every Denis Smith there is a Crosby, Buxton, Sbragia, Grayson, Ross or Parkinson. If you’re harking back to 1987 to find a positive example then it’s straw clutching at best. And Johnson has achieved nowt at three clubs, Smith had been at one club prior.

I wish him well but this type of appointment is a well trodden path for us.
