Takeover News/Rumours - Part 42

Apparently so. Two people who I know, one is in a media position but not based in the NE but has strong NE links and the other who has left the club last year, strongly suggested to me that it was all but done bar the crossing of the T in Poyet. Now I don’t profess to be ITK, sometimes I’ve heard things, sometimes I’ve heard nothing so I won’t waste my time on here but I’ve no reason to believe that never mind one but two people but would lie to me. Gus was wanting to come back and he knew about the finances and structure that he was going to be part of so I suspect whatever it is that has spooked him has something to do with whoever he was dealing with when it came down to dotting the i’s and more appropriately crossing that final t at the end of his name.

Not to mention his son referencing a post on twitter.

Very strange ! Like the supposed yanks takeover it seems when push comes to shove the amateurish/dodgy nature of those involved puts people off

Like I said, something has spooked him at a very late stage. Despite all the protestations from people on here that there are no ITK’s, there was a lot of people including several prominent members of the media who cover NE sport who thought the Gus deal was done. Even Downie who broke the news that it wasn’t happening said that he’d Spoke to the club. Now if it was a case of him not being interested in dropping down to L1 then why would he bother speaking to us in the first place.

He knows the potential for growth and wants those shares to grow with it in value. The same as anybody who holds shares in a company, to make money. I wish I could buy shares in us now, again!
Wasn’t here for the money and was here for the footballing challenge iirc

For me, yes it has something to do with somebody night up at the club. I don’t know who, I don’t know what but something has spooked him at the last moment.

Gus knew the outlay of the set up from day 1. Personally, i don't know what massively changed for him to U- turn like he did.

Exactly! If he wasn’t happy with the structure or even the direction of the club once he had taken over, which would have been discussed long before he got in to more nitty gritty areas of negotiations, then he wouldn’t have even bothered going to the stage that we know he did. It’s something major that has spooked him or he’s had a better offer.

Somebody jumped the gun, said he'd signed when he hadn't, and he threw a wobbly?
Haven't a clue mate, honestly. Just does not add up one bit. The way he spoke passionately about wanting to come back on that podcast few weeks before Parkinson was sacked, then last minute walk away...he already engaged in talks with Sartori n them at that stage and knew what the set up was going to be. Maybe meeting Charlie boy scared him off...

@Upthere suggesting Cowley was interviewed Monday or Tuesday, so it could be that he took the huff he wasn't the automatic pick but part of a process?

Could also be he didn't see eye to eye with the new TD, as he was supposed to be doing the interviewing.

Really can't see him having a better offer tbh.

No work for 2 years then 2 offers in one week, like buses, Gus buses.

I honestly have to applaud Dickhead's commitment to the grift. We can all see that it's bullshit, but when someone looks him up in 2 years time, they'll find nearly 6 months worth of articles that make him look plausible and well connected.

At some point, someone will give him a lot of money and likely never see any of it again.

But like those Paris based weirdos from Singapore that were "in for the mags". Not a single business that could be detected to their name but they do have a very slick website and lots of online media noise, all of which has been generated in the last few months.

None of this makes sense.

We sack a manager and replace him temporarily with a shadow version of himself for two must win games.

Our sacked manager had been undermined in the run up to the Fleetwood game by a leak on player fitness, and then sacked on Sunday by phone, whilst taking training: weird timing right?

Meanwhile, we attempt to appoint a new coach who turns us down for a reason officially given as "didn't want to manage in league one" (total bullshit) - this was after it was leaked he was a new manager to all
and sundry. This being a manager that previously complained that he couldn't turn the club around as he did not have total autonomy over club structure...

We are in the midst of a takeover, which at best sees the two of the most divisive and dishonest figures in our history retain a shareholding (and whether you like it or not, the ability to filibuster our newest shareholder), despite protestations that they just want out.

Then news reaches us that a new management structure is in fact in place (despite no official announcement), and are currently interviewing candidates for a head coach role - whilst our new Sporting Director conducting the interviews is still contracted to another club.

On top of this, the current favourite for the head coach role has previously had problems working under a system to the one we are putting in place, but lives next door to Jim Rodwell (a confirmed muppet but of course not involved at all with the hiring process).

Yet, I would be being negative in raising this as an issue..

It is a either a communications nightmare (ironic given that Pulitzer Winner Charlie Methven is still our overlord), or a total fuck-up..?

I wonder which, given recent history..

Like I said, I don’t profess to be any sort of ITK but I do know people who know people who do have these sort of links. I know that Gus was already to sign and it was a case of crossing that last t on Poyet. For that reason, I can’t imagine it having anything to do with others being interviewed as we must assume he was first choice. The only thing that I could think of was that Madrox (I.e Donald, Metheven and Rodwell) were interfering with the process which Sartori and Dreyfus already had ongoing.
