Can we stop using the acronym SD for a Sporting Director because everybody that is posting about makes me think for a second Stewart Donald is going to be in charge of things again...Can we just assume that its going to be a Director Of Football to which we can all refer to him as a DOF

TIA

Some of us agreed yesterday to use SpD. What seems to be being proposed for this role is more than just a DoF job. It will be have elements of a chairmanship to it, and the suggestion is that a CEO will report to him. Think of an NFL general manager as a comparison.
owner and manager. Don’t get greedy 😉

Sporting director?

Sporting director?

no I don’t think so

Manager before a sporting director is a mistake - particularly if it's Poyet

i don’t necessarily think so. I think the mistake we had last time was that Congerton arrived before Poyet agreed to stay on. He saw himself as in charge of recruitment to the point he signed the players he wanted, not players the manager could use effectively.

They need to be on the same page, but I’m not sure it matters who comes first. If Poyet is their choice then a SpD who can provide him with the right tools is what we need.
