Joey Barton and my skin

Only yes men need apply. Parky being given the bullet probably paves the way for Nigel Adkins.
You know it mate. Whilst I maintain he’s going nowhere while numb and number are here, should the inexplicable happen he would be replaced exactly as you say.

I think he could well have the potential to manage a Premier League club but he won't. He has far too much baggage. Championship is the highest he could manage.

On that point about Barton getting 'under our skin', this must be true of me, too, because I've just noticed that our record against Fleetwood isn't as bad as I imagined. We've only lost two of the five we've played against them, including the Pizza Cup the other week. Also, I don't ever recall us ever being under the cosh against them.
I still we'll lose tomorrow, though.

We've been shite against them every time we've played them to be fair, probably second best nearly every time. Best we played was probably the 2-1 loss down there under Ross, could have been out of sight in the first half. Bottled it.

My over riding memory of Barton was when he was a sub for QPR playing against us. He was warming up (my SC is north west corner for reference) and he was getting absolute dogs abuse real pelters being called worse than shi*e when he looked round make sure none of the officials were looking and held up five fingers on one hand and one on the other.
If a few of our fans got hold of him they would have ripped him to shreds, people were screaming at the stewards to kick him out of the ground for inciting a riot though part of me (which I hated in that moment) thought he had done each and every one of us and still got the last fuc*ing laugh

I remember that Ross game and it's well worth remembering. It was a non-contest in the first half, but we contrived to lose, somehow.

I think you are partially correct - he is (and sets himself up as) a Pantomime Villain. In reality, other than a few comments in the paper, what has he actually done to even register in the thoughts of the average Sunderland fan?

I can’t speak for him but personally I think it all comes down to the abuse he got when he was warming up as a sub on the touch line at SOL during one of the derbies. Can’t remember if it was the 1-1 with Nolan scoring or the 2-1 with the late free kick. Probably the latter. But he got absolute pelters and I think something thrown at him but was moved in by the linesmen or a steward or something. Genuinely think he has enjoyed trying to wind up Sunderland fans since then.

Makes a change from hating himself I suppose

Odd that we're playing two bogey teams in quick succession. The curses work in different ways. We're normally okay against Fleetwood but bugger-up somehow. The Burton games just never go to plan.

Was the 2-1, was his first game back after he got out of jail I think.
