L'Equipe saying it's down to 4 candidates to get the role as sporting director at the club. New people have been interviewing and the new sporting director will be English or Scandanavian. My guess is Steve Mclaren will rock up here.

We've done this shoite once b4 haven't we....

No mate, usually I call it right as do many on here. It's probably about time the club started listening to the fans that challenge their selections as opposed to appeasing the fans that look for a positive out of anything until it dawns on them that it was a bad decision all along...
I see where you are coming from. However, it is easy to say who we don’t want, the hardest thing is saying who we do want, and, more to the point, who we could attract right now should it happen. We are a total basket case of a club right now

So, because he has never done that role before means he can't? Do you know any sporting directors with experience off the top off your head that we could attract?

1. Why take the risk?

2. No as I've never been tasked with appointing one, if I was, I'd look for someone with a proven track record, with fresh ideas and energy. I wouldn't looked to appoint someone who is approaching retirement, has never been a Sporting Director before, comes across pretty badly in interviews and has basically failed that many times as a manager he's obviously struggling to get a role in that capacity.

3. Are people forgetting he used to manage the mags and they absolutely detested him, how many times do our fans need us to fuck up before they get the message?

Sporting Directors are not usually failed managers to be fair. Some are ex players and others have a coaching background or agent background.

Gone are the dayswhen it’s a final payday for an older manager IF it’s the European SD we are looking to emulate.

Hello! - Mclaren is no good at all. Another one of the Tim Sherwood, Stan Ternent, Gary Megson camp. It has to be a joke that is not funny. He comes in and 6 weeks later the MAnager goes and he becomes Manager. We get steadily worse and then ask Barry Fry, Duncan Ferguson, Peter Beardsley or John Carver to come in to manage, get real please. Mclaren is a fool and has been proved incompetent.

You might think it's a risk, your opinion. Not bothered he used to manage the mags. They hated Allardyce aswel...

Barry Fry is 75yrs old now. Too old.

To get it right, I would approach and make an offer he can’t refuse to Monsieur Arsen Wenger. Both he and Thierry Henry have a great respect for us fans

So why appoint another basket case in a senior position?
