In the Journal this morning....

we would love to be top of the league and plain sailing every week but this is a very competitive League.
Stay calm, no need to panic.
We have strength in squad to cover every position.

He added...
prior to the Portsmouth game our expected goals scored was 14, we scored 10 so we weren't far off.
Other teams in the League scored more than their expected goals.

What the F**k is he on about? There is no expected goals target. You can win 2-0 or 5-0. It is how many points you have that matters.

Absolute gibberish. Basically trying to pull the wool over people's eyes

On a mission to lower our expectations even further.
This spuad is good enough to finish in the top two imo, anything else is a failure on the manager's part.

So we had scored 35% fewer goals than expected before the game and we weren't far off? Get ready for the 65 point season, but it wouldn't be far off 100 points

Not that I’m sticking up for Parkinson but xG was one of the big sticks people used to hit jack ross with.

Well it is an issue, as it is with PP. It is clear we arn't scoring enough goals to feel confident about promotion. But setting a 14 goals target over 6 games. What if you score 2 and concede 3? It means nowt then. Goals target is only of use if it matches a points target.
He’s mentally scarred from his time at Bolton, he’s been getting belted every week

I think there is something in this. Any Manager who went through that would be scarred. Maybe he lost any ambition he had and changed to survive and get by.

Excuses, excuses. See he's using the old teams up their game against Sunderland line.

Also spoating some gibberish about expected goals scored etc....

The bloke is a clown and not fit to be our manager
"Teams up their game against Sunderland" what a load of bollocks that is.

You’re misinterpreting what he said. He didn’t set a target of 14 goals. Our expected goals stat (i.e. the amount of chances that statistically should have resulted in a goal) was 14 after those games meaning we weren’t taking our chances.

That is true, he did add that we were creating the chances but not scoring. but it still poses the question... if other teams have a higher conversion rate than we do. Is that down to the players or his tactics?
