Latest boxing crack

Boxing is probably the sport that has the least issue with racism of any sport. Black people have been recognised as equals based on ability for over 100 years.

I get that the contribution of black people is under appreciated in many walks of life but boxing isn't one of them. Seems a nonsense to go out of your way to recognise someone just for their blackness when they are widely appreciated for their skill and ability.

I'm not sure about a 100 years. I was reading an interesting piece about a Manchester boxer a few days ago who was denied a British title fight in the 1920's. He beat the champion twice in non title fights.

I was shocked to learn blacks weren't allowed to fight for the British title until 1948.

I know Jack Johnson was world champion prior to the first World War but he got loads of grief in the US.

Boxing has always been slow with the times. You think Boxing would ever accept a transgender champion in today's modern society? No chance :D

Even in the 70's, Southpaw stance was considered cheating so all the poor left handers then had to fight orthodox Oscar De Le Hoya style :D

If a woman transitioned to a man, then yeah, it would be an increadible achievement.

If a grown man flipped, then they shouldn't be in the same ring at all, ever.

Thankfully.

And how progressive would it be to allow someone who has grown up male, with all the physical advantages that brings (muscle mass, bone density, reaction times) to beat a genetic woman unconscious? Testosterone blockers don't change these innate physical characteristics.

Show me two comparably matched trans fighters and I'd watch it like any other fight, but trans folk have no place in standard male and female fight sports, I can't think of anything more unfair or unsporting.
Joshua Pulev confirmed then

why they are bothering with the o2 is beyond me

I think Hearn is lobbying to get some crowd in, even if it's just a few thousand. You can understand him keeping the option open, if he can get a few thousand in the demand for tickets would be huge so I doubt it would be one priced for the average boxing fan.

The London Palladum just held a 2000 strong theatre event for Arsene Wenger's book launch.

It's viable as this Govt are just picking their own rules at this stage.

Can’t believe the teo v loma fight is online only...ffs

9/2 for a teo stoppage. Thought he would be far more value than that.... it sure if having a daft dabble.🤔

You always like a few quid on when the underdog's a puncher

Lopez looks like he's a massive puncher though and Loma won't take that well at this weight I don't think. The question is if Lopez can actually land. I think he's a bit reckless and Loma outsmarts him and catches him every time he tries to get in close. I'm backing Loma to stop him by the 8th, though I am massively biased as he's my favourite fighter to watch.

I think we'll see something of a throwback Joshua in this with him stopping Pulev heavily and early.
