It was f***ing rotten mate. His back was against the speaker so there was no give whatsoever between the kick, his ribs and the speaker. He had his hands up as well. Could have broken his back for all I know as the sound was sickening.
Always sticks in my mind.
I'm glad that in the main door staff seem to be better at doing their jobs without excessive force these days. CCTV is a big part of that like. The only run in I have had with a doorman was in Annabels in the early 00's. I got kicked out just for being too drunk but he decided to trip me over when I was walking away after a few verbals. He was about to follow up with a kick I presume when one of the other bouncers stopped him and said something about the CCTV.

Used to work in Boulevard when Ian ran the doors for Mike. Yeah people got pasted by him but many were asking for it tbf. He was always fine with me (actually worked for him briefly) but not someone to cross, much like the lads I know who run doors now. I haven't seen him for years, but if he is a paramedic then fair play to the lad.
I used to work in Boulevards aswell. He was a complete prick. He done nowt to me personally but that doesn't change the fact.

Tbf, the incident I mentioned is the only one I can actually remember clearly but not even sure it was him giving the kick (but he was there). The poor fucker on the end of it definitely ended up with a few broken ribs though.
I remember him picking lads up with one hand and hoying them out of the back of Boulevard regularly on a Saturday night but nowt particularly out order, I can recall.
Thinking about it, bouncers had free range to be absolute wankers back then with pretty much no recourse. Crazy.

The asking for it bit is daft. Unless a customer is being violent to the door staff or other customers then they are not asking for a pezzling. A good doorman can defuse most situations without people getting sparked out.

Several times every Friday and Saturday if a couple of lads even had a stand-off, they were wading in and going right over the top. I and a load I know got hoyed down those stone back stairs at some point.
As I say, that's the one I remember clearly and I'm pretty sure it was him giving the kick into the chest.

I remember my mate having a fight with some kid in Bouelvard and they were just about to wade in when the lad straight fingered my mate in the Adam's apple - completely disabled him and he ended-up not being able to talk for a few days.
The Bouncers just pissed themselves laughing. As did I, mind.

It's weird when people say I've always found someone a canny lad when they are still aware of what they do and have done to other people mind. Like the two things are completely separate or something.

Cannot tar them all with the same brush though marra, same as any walk of life, good lads, bad lads, just thinking back to the 80/90s, had quite a few run ins with bouncers as there was a lot of doormen who should never ever have been allowed on a door. The crew at the barbary when jb worked there comes first to my memory.

You haven't got any mates that have done something shitty to another person?

Downeys bouncers were always the worst in town IMO ... Boulevard / Marlowes / KU club

In the late 90s was always told the hardest bouncer in town was a small skinny lad with pony tail who did the doors on Sly Mcflys (holmeside ) on his own , seemed a nice bloke also . It’s the little uns you have to watch😀
