There's really no problem here even if it's bollocks, because it seems likely that the source is literally Donald himself.

If he heard it from someone who wasn't directly involved in the deal with the club or buyer, then he probably would have been a bit more careful about saying it and I'd agree that it would be reckless to just start whipping people into a frenzy, but it's the owner. The worst case scenario is that we found out Donald was being a bit shady or that something fell through.

He's not he's a football commentator as described on the BBC website. A commentator makes comment generally of their opinion, a journalist should report facts.

The guy is basically a paid pundit on a radio station and his job is to discuss Sunderland, for me he's done that. If you choose to believe a programme based around conjecture and take it as fact then it's you who've chosen to believe it.

I know people are frustrated and pissed off there seems to be no positive takeover news (me included) but there’s no point or need in lashing out at nick barnes. The blokes a football commentator, he’s not a journalist. It’s the first time the blokes ever shared anything with the fans in about 10 years and it will probably be the last. Whether it comes off or not he won’t have deliberately told the fans incorrect info. Give him a break.

I don't think he should have said anything as you could forsee this happening. The only information he had was that tweet with nothing to back it up and setting a time frame. Fans are desperate for any sign of hope and with no football there has been little else to talk about. Plus we are talking about Donald who has never made anything straight forward, so very unlikely there would not be bumps in the road (that is of there is actually a takeover)

I feel bad for sharing his latest tweet now because it just seems to have caused him to get grief. If he didn't share what he was told at the time and it came out then I'd imagine he'd have been criticised even more.

The timing never seemed right though. To go from Donald saying no one was in the data room and nowt was really happening, to all of a sudden there's advanced talks and a deal is very close just never added up.

Without turning into Jeremy Paxman, I'd expect someone with his experience in the game to know someone was telling porkies.

Think what he did was fair enough. It appears he was told by the owner of the football club we have entered a period of exclusivity to sell it. Knowing the fans are desperate for some hope he has passed it on. Its not his fault some of our fans dont want to believe it. Some do and are happy he informed us of what he was told

If it is a lie its not Nick Barnes fault is it

Its ridiculous if people are having a go at barnes re. this. He's clearly a decent honourable fella.

The bloke has probably been used.

There is only one bloke who should be receiving criticism and that is the man who continues to destroy our club.
