Wouldnt bother me that ,i hope he uses these cups to blood the kids and have a proper look at them.I personally hope to hell we dont get bogged down in cups this season .Only one massive aim ,promotion

See i know we are all frustrated by this takeover,however i cant see what stewy gains by diverting attention.We all know he hasnt got a PTPI and someone on here worked out its now costing him around 250,000 a mth to keep us going or he loses the lot.Also where have people like MG ,GA,etc disappeared to,not a dicky bird out of MLFs who have tried or are still trying to sort us out.So i reckon on getting pissed and waiting we can ,he cant

Barnes appears to be an extremely passive journalist. He was given a piece of information which he put out there and then appears to have just left it. There doesn’t appear to have been any follow up whatsoever.

I don’t believe he would deliberately mislead Sunderland supporters yet his latest tweet is absolutely pathetic in its response/explanation.

The whole thing is very strange.

It won’t be costing him a penny, the club is funding his complete and utter inability to run it with any sort of professionalism. Unfortunately for the supporters, when he is eventually finished, the much vaunted academy etc will be nothing more than a shell. There won’t be anything left. The ‘infrastructure’ won’t exist.

Can't believe people genuinely think Barnes should have "checked his sources" before tweeting what he did, if his source was Stewart Donald.

He's literally the only source who'd be able to give a formal confirmation. The media can't just not report what Donald is telling them and assume he's lying. And Barnes can't include in his tweet who his source was, for obvious reasons. He was between a rock and a hard place and likely genuinely believed Donald.

And all that is IF it was Donald who told him.

And even then he still might be right.

Agreed. I found it extraordinary that, in the SD interview with Barnes a couple of months ago, this strange, rambling story about bus-stops in Oxford, his daughter and Sunderland fans was brought up, immediately dropped and yet our roving newshound didn't bother to ask one single question about what exactly is actually alleged to have taken place.

There was either an agreement in advance that SD wouldn't be questioned thoroughly on non-footballing issues, OR Barnes accepts he is simply a mouthpiece who trots stuff out from the club without scrutiny.
