Would people really have preferred a journalist not to say anything?

We all knew (or at least some of us pointed out that it was a possibility!) that he was being used. He knew it too, I'd imagine. People always talk about reporters 'just reporting' instead of trying to offer an opinion. It seems to me that's what he did. Donald id the real bad guy here,why are we shooting the messenger (who will then be reluctant to pass any news on in future perhaps?)

Aye I'm pretty certain he was being used (not by Donald), but as a journalist if you hear something like that you're bound to put it out there. He's done nowt wrong imo

This. Donald is the real enemy and is using every technique possible to divert focus.

Common knowledge that the players he wants in those positions are Garbutt & Graham. Not sure how the salary cap affects those two coming in.

Think the business will be done once those two plus the Kosovan come in (if all sign).

If newspaper reports are to be believed then we have about £15k pw available for wages this season. He’s maybe decided to call it a day at Garbutt Graham and the Kosovan as he considers we have a better chance promotion with 3 top end L1 players on £5k pw than 5 players on £3k pw especially given what we’ve seen of Neill and Diamond on pre-season.

Salary cap has scuppered a lot of club's /player's plans this preseason I think. Obviously we are light on options in certain areas for starting the season but I think there will be some good players available come October when they realize they aren't getting a championship move.

Yes, because it is an absolute basic requirement of being a journalist to check your sources - especially at the BBC - and to make clear if the reports are not verified.

Barnes has taken the word of one famously dishonest chancer, who had an agenda in trying to get people and the media to back off (which they did), and just presented it as a scoop. Now he is saying 'I can only trust the information I was given'. The bloke is a clown, he'd be better off collecting colouring pencils or something rather than shit commentary and fake news.

In pre-season Diamond has been used in the wing back role rather than the number 10, so perhaps Parky sees him more as an O'Nien alternative.
