Sale is close - Barnsey

I'm not expecting any movement. Barnes' estimate of the time needed for completion was ludicrously short. 4 weeks from exclusivity to completion is pretty much unheard of. End of September is far more realistic. People need to stop thinking this is like going down to Evans Halshaw and haggling over the price of a new Clio. It's far more complicated.

Yep, tried to say this at the start but obviously... Kittens being a pessimist etc etc. It's just borderline impossible, would certainly be reckless.

I do understand though. Not many people have experience of any kind of M&A deal, just got to keep plugging away with your explanations. People do listen to you eventually and will get a better understanding over time.

What position does Evans Halshaw play in?

Barnes is just a jobbing journo in a rapidly changing world.

When he started out, people bought and read the newspapers, and to a reasonable extent believed a fair bit of what was in them.

Certainly a story like this would have been believed, and it is unlikely that back then he would have written it without some solid secondary proof. He could have more easily afforded caution back then as his, and other's jobs were stable and secure in a thriving business.

But times have changed, as they do. He has been told something, almost certainly by Donald and it's rush to publish. Clicks and followers, and hints and suggestions are the go to tools of their trade now. Not his fault, the Nationals are just the same, often lazily picking up stories from an excitable ether.

He'll certainly have been told what he says he was told. But I doubt he will know more than that. And if it came from Donald, then it is close to worthless anyway. It's just as likely that others are hearing as much.
Don’t think Mr Barnes will be getting anything more, I was told SD changed his mobile two weeks ago and NB wasn’t sent new number, NB feeling like a discarded boyfriend right now !!!!

If the buyer is who we all hope/think it is, won't most of the work have been completed last time. Obviously a recap would be needed, but would that not fit with Barnes' statement about DD not being a problem. Likewise with a Sartori bid.

How would you expect our transfer business would affect the sale?
I would have thought it would be difficult to agree a price on a fluid asset until the transfer window closes or we say we are done and no more incomings/outgoings.
Like if the club is valued at £45m or what ever DS is asking for it, then we go out and throw another £4m at a player like Grigg with a large contract, then that would have quite an impact in the takeover deal I would have thought?

For all we know, SD may have told Barnes in the strictest confidence.
Nobody knows for sure except NB and SD.
Games, smoke and mirrors.. The whole tenure has a bait and switch feel about it. Even now in its death throws there is a feeling that the last part of long con hasnt come to its end. In what reality does a hostile owner actually think they can hold onto power indefinitely and without impunity? I'm seriously doubting change is happening and this mare will continue.

Given the current size of the squad, and the restrictions imposed by the salary cap, our room to manoeuvre on signings is very limited, so I can't see much, if any impact. Any player costing as much as Grigg will be unaffordable within the cap. There's scope for maybe 1 or 2 senior players. Anyone else will need to be under 21, unless some can be moved out very quickly, but their current salaries will make that very difficult.

Barnes estimate of time would have been given to him by his informant.
Not me, not you not any other poster but his source of info. Which to all intents and purpose is chancer boy Donald.
So it’s He who is giving unrealistic timeframes. Well I’m shocked I tell you

What about loans from the premiership?
