I truly hope so...but no news/leaks in the media is unusual if something is happening, other than of course the Rasputin Bampot making a noise!

As GOM mentions, lots of takeovers happen without things leaking. I can't imagine FPP were happy with how much was coming out of the club last time so it stands to reason that if they, or any of them, were involved, they might have strongly told those involved to shut the fuck up. That wouldn't stop every little leak, but it would likely stop anyone from blabbing to a journalist. If all the journos are hearing are random people saying "someone who knows someone at the club is saying this" they likely won't see it as sufficient to run stories about.

Thing is, I don't think he really needed to take the pressure off. He's sat in Oxford, seemingly with very little intention of coming back to Sunderland unless absolutely required. There's no matches for people to shout about him at, and even when the season starts there won't be any fans initially, and he probably won't be there. No one expected him to spend money so he's not even using it as an excuse not to spend, and the fact is he needs to go up just as much as we want us to, so there's no need for a misdirection which means he can be inactive in the market. It doesn't make sense that Donald has just made it up. Which means that, given Barnes said something was happening and said he still thought so when he did the podcast a week or so ago, I'm confident that something is happening

He will be looking out for kidnappers in Red and White shirts loitering at bus stops.

You're probably right, seems like a lifetime ago.

29th April 2018. Haven't spent a long time looking mind.
I had a quick look and there’s an article on the 29th that says

“Donald revealed last week that he'd been approached to be an investor in a consortium looking to take over at Sunderland.

Donald said he 'wouldn’t rule it out' but claimed it was unlikely anything would happen and it would take an “absolutely sensational” deal for him to get involved.”

Can’t find the original article though 🤷‍♂️

Fair enough. I remember the takeover day and thinking I hadn't heard anything about it previously, but I wasn't in Sunderland at the time so it's possible the speculation just passed me by.
