Remi Matthews

A lot of which were in non-league. Do you want to try engaging with the original point that a goalkeeper who have played a limited number of games by the age of 27 must be rubbish? Because there's very little between Pope and Matthews in numbers alone.

Oh and the goalkeeper who starred in his FA Cup Final win this year only has 101 appearances and is two years older than Remi. Although you will deliberately miss the point and spend hours scowering the records to find he actually played 102 games.
Nah I’m not that arsed. The question of how many appearances isn’t that important to me. Overall I don’t expect Matthews to be a game changer. Our issues are clearly at the other end of the pitch. Given the salary cap I’d question if we’ve used our resources right but I assume (or expect) Matthews isn’t getting much. I do tend to do a little fact check if I notice you make a claim though. Invariably they tend to be horseshite.

Tom Heaton - 113 senior appearances at the age of 26. Future England goalkeeper.

We can agree on this.

It would depend on the player.

Would you turn down Emiliano Martinez based on on his appearance record?
Actually think he's a flash in the pan and he'll end up at a lower prem club within 18 months. Pope on the other hand is a good player. saw him at York City against Bury a few years ago and you could tell then he was decent. Had a touch of the Shat Given's about him. However the 2 mentioned are the exception not the rule. If a keeper isn;t playing amd hasn;t gone out on loan somethings usually wrong. I'd rather we got a younger player on loan, would be cheaper if we paid wages as loan fee as not covered by wage cap and if 21 or under wouldn't count to squad limit. But hey why think sensibly.
