New Music Releases Thread

hes a bonafide hero. The genius behind Neu which I’m sure you’ve heard of ? I was cautious when we heard he was back but that is great and him at him at his best.

Oh aye, love some of Neu stuff - explains why it's good then.
Could you hear it in the Salty like?

Couldnt get in, tkt was a fake :(
Ok then. Where should I start with this fella?

Absolutely f***ing love @mad cyril recommendations me. Although he’s probably not far off thinking I’m some kind of weirdo

Loved them over the years like. Always a cracking gig

They're a band who have been so good for long they can knock out a stunning 60 min set. Hit after hit. If you're into them get into the 22 Grand Pod podcast, they've got two, two hour long interviews with Gary and Ryan. Really, really good, even if they're maybe the worst interviewers in history.

You'll probably enjoy that Lemon Twigs record actually.

I think this may be the first time I’ve repeated something, but with it being my hero I make no apologies.
Geniuses sometime never lose it

Great tune that, was gonna stick it on my Spotify playlists but doesn’t seem to be on there.

He’s the main man mate of the hugely influential band NEU.

Yeah it’s not for some reason. I’ll be buying album but would like it to reach a wider audience who might not hear it otherwise

start with his stuff with Neu mate. They were an amazingly influential German band in sync with kraftwerk. He was in thier early formation. An amazingly talented band / songwriter. You’ll love them

I listened to them a few years ago. I started listening to Kraftwerk, realised they were superb, then the next obvious step was to give Neu a whirl. They didn’t quite do it for me like Kraftwerk did but I’ll give them another whirl.

yeah Kraftwerk definitely superior but I love both. I’d also hugely recommend mate Michael Rothers solo album Flammende Herzen.

Aren't they just? I came across the podcast and thought it would be right up my street. Listened to about 10 minutes and had to turn it off because they were hopeless.

They're literally the worst podcasters I've ever heard. The ones with the Cribs aren't bad as they don't speak too much. Can't even listen to any of the others as it's atrociously bad.

Saw that on Jumpin Hot Club page. Sad news.

I think this song sounds effortless and was a firm favourite from first listen.

I’d never really heard of him until “Kids in the Street” came out in 2016 and I was blown away by it, I’d put it at number 3 in my favourite albums of the 2010s. It’s sounds so old fashioned but so cool at the same time and the songwriting is phenomenal. He’s very under appreciated
It was one of those situations where I immediately felt the need to go and listen to his entire back catalogue.

He was only 2 years older than I am, although obviously I’ve never had addiction issues etc in the past.

I never saw him even though he came by a couple of times. Was going to go to Leeds Brudenell last year but I was abroad. Sad news.

Nope. His last two albums are both sat on a 58 ranking on metacritic. It's quite a cool thing to criticise Nas these days. Not sure anyone would suggest either album is close to Life is Good.

As much as I enjoy listening to the better modern rappers like Gibbs over an extravagant Alchemist or Madlib beat, there's something that hits different hearing Nas over a simple beat with some drums and horns. 10 Points is the best Nas song I've heard in a loooooong time.

It’s very good, not perfect mind and there’s a few poor tracks but overall really impressed. Didn’t think he had another decent album in him!
