Weighell is 26 years old now and doesn't appear to have progressed the last few years. Presumably the coaching staff believe youngsters such as Coughlin jnr, Potts and Cambell are now ahead of Weighell. After all,it's the coaching staff who see them day on day. It's the spin department that's short if Whitehead has been released. Only Trevaskis?

his injury record has done him no favours sadly. shame as i'll aways remember him as a lad i saw in the 2s showing real promise whilst not seeing what the fuss about burnham was.

people above has mentioned his stats and i checked recently, iirc he's not far off solid all rounder numbers, around or just under 30 with both, bowling slightly higher

EDIT: just my opinion, about his injury record

I suppose the writing was on the wall for Weighell when Coughlin returned.

Sad to see him go as he featured heavily in one of the best Chanpionship games I have seen ie the victory against Leics in 2018 after following on.
Scored 29 and 38 then took 7-32 and not a cloud in the sky....seems a hundred years ago now.
Their averages seem about the even, if anything Weighell is slightly better and he'sis actually younger than Coggers.

Maybe it's a case of cockup rather than being planned like this. Coggers was given a transfer but then when it came to the time Weighell needed a contract the financies had worsened because of COVID.

Be controversial this but I think James Weighell is a better cricketer than Coughlin imo.

Gets more bounce with the ball, hits it further with the bat. Just imo. Not convinced PC is “all that” tbh and I never have been.

We might start finding out from Saturday. I hope Weighell gets a decent crack if it at Leicestershire.
