I always like a positive mindset and think that is what to look for win the game think of the postives, we should not even be thinking of losing this game only winning it.

The test that springs to my mind is the Adelaide Test in 2006/2007, England batted first got over 550 in the first innings the one where Collingwood got a double ton and think KP got a ton too., yet the Aussies still won from that position, by scoring quickly getting past our score bowling us out, then going for it on the final day winning the game.

They is no way in the world this England team would win a test match with the opposition scoring over 550 in the first innings.
All very well being positive, a nice buzz word created by the Shane warnes of this world but there was no need for us to do anything different to what we have done today.

I’ve no idea of the relevance of a test match from 14 year ago either which has absolutely no similarities with this one.

England 551/6d @ 3.27
Australia 513ao @ 3.09

So when you say they scored quickly, they actually went slower than we did.

You know the point I am making we would not win a game from that position, I noticed you haven’t posted the scoring rate of the fourth innings when they needed over 200 of limited overs and did not even think of the draw

It isn’t ,just stressing the way I look at the positives, you say why give them a sniff?

My point is that would not have even been in my thinking, I would have just thought, how quick can we get them in, can we get them in tonight, and if Sibley never got out, that would not have happened imo.

Root gave us a chance to get them in tonight, at first you were happy to have 350+ lead and them not even batting tonight.

Just prefer to be more positive than that.

Which is all well and good but being ‘positive’ isn’t always the right call. Get the Balance right between positivity and negativity, that’s when you’re on a winner as we’ve seen today.

Guess we will have to agree to disagree mate, as that’s my point too, thought 58 for 0 after 25 overs was getting the balance wrong, and only Sibley getting out alllowed us to get them in tonight,

160odd after we utterly collapsed on day 5 after being 1 down overnight. Not sure what throwing the bat chasing a win in the last session of a match has to do with setting a target with 2 days left, but still.

They scored slower than we did in that game, and slower than we have here.
