He averaged 52.80 until Cook resigned and averages 42.01 since

I know the throw to run out Root direct but would that throw have totally dislodged completely the bail by itself without further keeper intervention when Root was in his crease?

Same. I guess the issue is who IS a captain in this team. You could argue Stokes but personally I'd leave him to play the game he does now without adding more pressure.

As @chunkylover53 says, yes, the bail was completely in the air before Root was in and before the keeper connected with anything
