Agree on your first point.

Not sure on the second, it would be messing Pope around again, and he’s such a talent. Also not sure it would be a one off, the bowler issue isn’t going away by the time of the Pakistan series

As much as it pains me, if we have a keeper batting 6 then we need to hope Bairstow sorts out his technical issues. He’s the best bat out of our keepers in reality. Shoot me now

Surely if we want a keeper who can bat then you play Ben Foakes? Averages 40 odd doesn’t he?

Have they any other seamers in their squad? England having so much bowling rotation has been huge this series.
Holder and Reifer

38 in first class

his test record is better than 40 but it’s too small a sample
I think they want a batsman who can keep wicket. The last genuine wicketkeeper we had was (IIRC) Chris Read and Jack Russell before him.....
And James Foster

All keepers have to bat these days realistically

Foakes is a class keeper, I get the feeling they don’t trust his batting

Agree Bairstow won’t

Don’t think you can say he has had a crap hand. He has had enough opportunity. I genuinely hope he makes 150 here btw, and actually shows he can play test cricket

That would be his highest score ever in any format. Although it's probably unfair to judge him after just a few hundred games, give him a chance I say!
