wearing a mask over your breathing apparatus is very dangerous - please get plenty of oxygen folks

i wish i didn't see very old people wearing masks as i think very old people should get as much oxygen as possible

i wouldn't put a mask over a dogs breathing apparatus either

Stop spreading utter bollocks on here - spreading crap like this is dangerous and you are either a pathetic troll or simply incredibly stupid. MASKS CANNOT REDUCE THE LEVEL OF OXYGEN IN THE AIR IT IS PHYSICALLY IMPOSSIBLE YOU UTTER GOON

I personally think they are fairly pointless but will happily comply. Went on Metro last week. Couldnt be arsed to drive and it was no big deal. I couldn't even be arsed to have a word with people not wearing masks.
Metro was nearly empty. This cannot go on indefinitely. Economy will be in the toilet.

I suspect masks are being introduced so shops can prepare to get rid of outdoor queuing systems etc.

So there is evidence to suggest masks help the fight (when it was basic common sense & good manners all along) but they have already reopened pubs so theres thousands of people sat indoors together every weekend in mixed household groups (not observing social distancing either in many cases).

Okkkk

I don't know anyone else but this makes me less likely to go out to the high street etc. I just can't be doing with it.

Me too. I have never been in a shop since before lockdown started as I have been at home with my disabled daughter. I was looking forward to looking in a few shops again once she goes back to college in September but won't be going if it is still compulsory to wear face masks, I'll just carry on shopping online. If I had to go in a shop I'd wear one but I'd rather just not bother.

Is it THAT much of a big deal is it? Putting a bit fabric over your face for a bit?

Mainly yes, it depends on the type of mask they're wearing.
Surgical masks in lower risk areas, but not just to protect patients, they'll wear fluid resistant ones to protect themselves from splashes and such like.
In higher risk areas clinicians wear N95 respirators to protect themselves.
Aye .A two way street like i said .The cheap ones people wear all day are for single use by dentists and the like
They'll use half a box a day .

Of course they do. It’s the reason why they wear masks in theatre or when carrying out a sterile procedure, or when treating a patient who is immune compromised. Why did you think they wore masks?
Okey doke
So all the care home workers crying out for ppe. That's to stop them giving it to others ?
I think it's a two way street .
We aren't talking about a surgeon standing over someone's opened up chest or sterile zones

Gyms due to open soon. Surely that is more dangerous than popping into an off license for a paper which takes about 2 minutes.

Exactly this. There is no way on earth gyms should be opening if it is mandatory to wear a face mask in a shop.
The only time I have been in a 'shop' since March is when I go to the chemist to pick up my daughters prescription once a fortnight. I am in and out in 2 minutes but will now have to wear a face mask yet people in gyms can puff their germs everywhere without any face covering. It's ridiculous like every other decision this government have made.
