I just think If you pick someone in the match you have to stick with them

Am not fussed whether Buttler plays or not btw

I still think people give it too much attention the number 75

I’d be happy with my keeper averaging 35

I suspect most wouldn’t

The personal criticism bairstow gets is insane like

He needed taking out for a bit

And he’s had no cricket at all to get back form, setting him up to fail putting him back in

Buttler will get the series

As a wicketkeeper at 7, that record is pretty decent, considering he's played a number of tests as a specialist batsman not so.

I think a lot of it is dark humour mate, nothing personal and just an “in joke” on this board.

Mind, I wouldn’t pick him personally, he’s just better than Buttler. Both have had ample test opportunities, I’d move on from both.

Agree that Buttler will get the series though.

I suspect you are right that Buttler will get the series, hope he gets a score. I think Bairstow and Buttler are proven white ball specialists now. Bairstow has a decent red ball record but since he became the ODI opener his red ball play has suffered. I think maybe try Foakes as a red ball specialist and see if he can develop.

Yup.

Bairstow needed taking out of the firing line for a bit, no question. But what is hilarious is that his and Buttler's records for the 18 months before Bairstow was dropped were broadly similar, and Buttler was playing as a specialist bat only.

So why is Jonny a figure of fun, but Buttler still a 'world class talent'? Amuses me no end.
 
Survive the night, then set them at least 230 I suppose would be a decent target to bowl at. But little chance of a win or draw from here. Comfortably outplayed and outthought (soz Ben)

Think both are fantastic white ball players. Bairstow is a very good test cricketer when he is focused on red ball only, the white ball stuff distracts him and makes him a worse red ball player for me. Buttler is a decent test player, not consistent enough to be anything better. Can we do better? We won't know unless we give Foakes a string of tests home and away.
