Right, so £45m (I’ll agree with Robson’s valuation) in and ~£56m out.

~£11m deficit from a much lower return from the two. Bruce, eh...

And no, I don’t care where the goals come from but you specifically brought up us losing our forwards.
Wriggle, wriggle.
I bet you’ve nearly self-combust this week waiting for your ban to end have you @Sima?
How long was his ban?

He was sent back on loan to Marseille as early as the first January. You knew then you'd be relegated?
No, he wanted out of here at the earliest possibility, but if we'd stayed up and replaced the manager, Thauvin may well have fancied another crack at the English Top Flight. Doubt it like.

It seems there’s Sunderland fans who literally want us to win so they can say Bruce is better then Benitez;

And;

A section of Newcastle fans who want us to lose to prove Benitez is better then Bruce.

I find both positions equally baffling like.
Despite being Benitez most vocal supporter on here, I need to be clear that I want Newcastle to win every game. If that means Newcastle finish higher under Bruce than we did under Benitez, then that's good.

My position is that Benitez is way better than the consensus opinion on here. Bruce is fundamentally not as successful a football manager as Benitez, and the latter should have been allowed to push the club forward. Rather than being replaced by a man that few other Premier League clubs would employ.

I agree with what your saying. 100 times out of 100 I want Benitez as manager over Bruce, and I’m relatively confident we will be relegated if Bruce remains in charge for a longer time.

Bruce does deserve credit because Sunday aside, we look like one of the few teams to have returned from the break motivated and up for it. Look at Bournemouth and Sheff Utd for example. That’s a credit to Bruce and the players.

He was offered a contract and turned it down for more money in China.

Totally agree with that. In terms of fitness and sharpness we seem to have benefited from the break rather than suffered for it. Credit for that has to go to Bruce and the players.

Re: Bruce long term, and for the sake of argument say the takeover doesn't happen. Bruce's management at his previous clubs has been one of diminishing returns. I can't see how that changes. We've already seen our defensive strength deteriorate in this season and while our football has been more aesthetically pleasing, we've not actually created more chances this season per game than we did last and we've given up more chances. We haven't scored as many per game and we've conceded more. In short, this isn't sustainable.
He was offered a contract and turned it down for more money in China.
We've been over this so many times Binxy. The money wasn't the only factor. He didn't turn down the offer from NUFC purely because he could get more money in China. That's a misrepresentation of the issues because you, for whatever reason, want to paint Benitez as a mercenary .
Behave with your silly opinion.
Fixed it for you.

I find the whole Benitez thing a little weird.

You often see a group of of fans getting stick for calling for a managers blood, for hounding them out but until this forum I don't think I have ever heard a group of fans getting stick for saying we like the manager we have, we are happy with him and want him to say.
I don't get why it gets under Sunderland fans skin that we were happy with our manager.
It gets under your skin so much so that you are practically rooting for us to win because you want Bruce to win more games.

I hope Bruce wins more games as well, feels odd you lot wanting the same.

You would have to be rather gullible to belive that Benitez went to China for footballing reasons. Even the suggestion of it is ludicrous. He is nearly 60, and got offered absolutely ridiculous money, and he has taken it. Who can blame him? Almost everyone would do the same.

Grateful that he got us out of the Championship. If you don't bounce straight back then you are knackered. Totally shafted. But the thanks need to stop there. He left a good while ago now and the continued fawning and gushing over him is utter cringe.
