The Ghost of Arca
Midfield
How much they lord over Benitez is hilarious. If he was called Ralph Benitez they would of hounded him out. The job he did there was average as fuck as Steve Bruce is showing

Did you think that we’d ( NUFC ) be relegated under Bruce ? If so are you man enough to admit you underestimated him ?
Benitez most points in season for us was 45. If Bruce achieves another 7 points from the remaining 7 games will you admit he’s done a better job than his predecessor?
Read the post above yours quoted instead of waffling digs at us all day, it's a very good argument. No Twitter news today? Your usually as regular as a lass. The lord god Rafa, he who relegated the mags.
So if Newcastle finish with more points this season, but lower league position than last, will you concede Bruce has done a worse job than Benitez?Yes because safc fans think the same
League position not points is what matters to me
Only thig that matters is premier League. Scoring Vs Rochdale is not producing![]()
Get a life.

the retort of a beaten man.
You absolutely can compare the two, you just don't want to because it doesn't suit your narrativewhy can't we use net spend/players-sold, when the players-sold argument is used to defend Bruce ("he lost Rondon and Perez etc etc")?
7th place is hardly outstanding. It was, however, excellent given where you were when he took over. 10-13th place is hardly outstanding either, it was however, excellent compared to where we were in terms of trajectory when the dutch numptee left.
The parallels between early Reid and Benitez's time at Newcastle are actually pretty stark, if you look at it from an unbiased angle.

Haddup sonny Jim, any time there's context applied to Benitez' time it's dismissed out of hand.No because of the following.
A. Joelinton wasn't a Bruce signing he was long being touted for you lot when Rafa was there.
B. He lost two of your main scorers
3. Benitez did worse in his first 12 months.
In that circumstance I'd be willing to conceed that he'd continued the job adequately, with a caveat that next season would be more relevant as he fixes more of his own grip on the team. My concern with Bruce would always be the ceiling of the club under him, his record suggests that he'll always take a club backwards given time.
Tidied for accuracy.Haddup sonny Jim, any time there's context applied to Benitez' time it's dismissed out of hand.
A. Joelinton's signing was signed off by Bruce. He's had plenty of time to realise he's not a targetman and cannot play that way, yet still he persists with that.
B. He's got a massive upgrade in attacking midfield in the shape of ASM, and he's inherited a good defence
C. If we're applying context, Benitez inherited a mess from McClaren, got relegated, then had to organise a team to get immediate promotion back to the Premier League, which he did.

Don't disagree. A fixture or two more against Stoke and/or Bournemouth and we would have stayed up, of that I'm convinced.Benitez first job was to secure survival but he failed to do it. We all no he was left a mess by mclaren but he has to take accountability for failing to beat Norwich, Sunderland and Villa. One win and we’re safe. He’ll be disappointed with that and will know he should have done better.
Extend the season to suit Rafa, oh do fuck offDon't disagree. A fixture or two more against Stoke and/or Bournemouth and we would have stayed up, of that I'm convinced.

? Extend it, what the fuck are you dribbling about? Had he been appointed 2 games earlier, after the Chelsea mauling and before the break he would have had 12 games to rescue the season.Extend the season to suit Rafa, oh do fuck off![]()
