Have they started going down anywhere yet? Would like to invest in one with a bit of inheritance but not sure where to buy and if to get new if they are selling them. Like the Omega Moonwatch but not sure they hold their value as well as a Rolex.

Gone up the last couple weeks

Have they? I just checked watchfinder and they’ve one listed at £6250. That’s about the same price I paid at Laings 3 years ago.

I did see that the last one they had sold at £8k so if anything, they’ve dropped in price. At the beginning of the year, they were being advertised at around £10k:eek:

Which watch you on about?

After deciding not to buy a Tudor watch previously (some of you may remember the thread I posted), I have decided to treat myself to a Rolex this year. I’m looking to buy a Datejust 41 in this exact design:

I’ll be putting down around 30% deposit but will finance the rest. I’ve been in to a see Goldsmith’s, but does anyone know or had experience with somewhere else who’s provided excellent service/decent finance %, etc?
Don't do it.

These things will soon be worthless.

A banana will soon be worth more than a Rolex.

I got a decent one in Mexico once.
The diamond for the 10 was missing though and the second hand started going backwards when I got back to the UK.
Never fancied one after that .

Which watch mate? Be surprised if a big face Rolex had dropped like that. Most are up again right now.

I could sell the two I got this year around 1.5k profit and that's a decent jump.

Sorry mate, my post last night wasn’t too clear and a few beers deep in this lovely weather!

The Omega Moonwatches look to have dropped by a decent whack this last few months. I always keep an eye on the used prices of that and the datejust 41 in particular.

Moonwatches were going for around £10k earlier in the year, now they’re back to the original prices. The datejust 41 I was surprised to see had increased so much when I looked, blue face silver strap has gone through the roof, for £6k new 18 months ago.

The skydweller of same colour is the most expensive stainless skydweller they do, a highly sought after piece. As its a cheaper alternative with a same colour, it will drag the price up.

But yeah, most models from DJ and up seem to have increased in value. On subject of Omega, an omega is my longest owned out of my watches.

Mines an old Tag Carrera Calibre 16. Bought it with my first golden goodbye for a job I wasn’t really up to truth be told when I was 23! I’ve not worn it for years as it’s huge and big watches aren’t really my thing any more.

The Dark side of the moon is my favourite and my everyday watch. It’s so understated and the fabric strap I much prefer to metal, less clanking against table tops etc..

The Rolex datejust 41 with blue face was a gift from my wife for our 10th wedding anniversary. It’s just a lovely best-occasions watch. It doesn’t actually get that much use but it’s one I’d like to keep forever.

I had the idea of hoying them all in for a Daytona and whilst I have laings on the lookout for one, I’m not sure I’d have the balls to go through with that if the time comes.

Play the watch market right though and they can become very good investments.

Slightly off topic...but I was wanting to get my Submariner serviced and was wondering if anyone has any recommendations of who to do it with?

Unfortunately not mate

Cheers mate

Think it was £500 for the service , NG came back with a few things that needed doing , like it needs a new bracelet at £1300 because the original one was scratched , which was more than I paid for the watch in the first place.

17 years old before I got it serviced , don’t listen to the bollocks that it has to be done every few years.

Investment yet they need 'servicing':lol::lol::lol:

Expensive watches are like expensive art, overpriced codswallop

Not keen on a Rolex, just my personal preference, but have been looking at Breitlings and Omegas which I prefer more. Having done a bit of research (there are decent YouTube videos knocking about) I'll probably go for a second hand one and one that holds it's value. Currently got my eye on a Breitling Airwolf 2008 but still doing a bit research on it but seen one for £1,990 instead of the usual £2,300-£2,400 and in mint condition.

As for finance free, it's the way to go if you can afford it, totally sensible option imo. I've just bought a TAG Connected and could have had interest free or 10% discount so took the 10% discount option, paid on my credit card and did an immediate transfer onto my other card at a total transfer fee of £26 and zero interest. Will pay the card off over 10 months and keep my money in the bank, why wouldn't I?
