I'm hoping in years to come we can look back and say "what was all that about" though I fear we haven't approached bottoming out quite yet.

I sincerely hope you're wrong.

Me and 5 others have cancelled our cards for next season though and I doubt that's isolated. I simply cannot justify paying that kind of money for what could be a streaming pass.

I'm absolutely gutted to be honest.

Same here mate. I've been going since 1984 (many have a lot, lot longer) and this is by far the lowest I've ever felt.
Even last season, we had anither parachute payment to come (wonder where that went) and thought it could be a repeat of 1998 under Reidy.
Now, we've finished 8th (probably where deserve), are potless, about to have about half a dozen professionals at the club left and Phil Parkinson in charge
 
So what reason have clubs got for ending the season early because whether it is because of safety, unable to afford the testing, unable to afford to play games without gate receipts. All of these measures will still be in force when the season begins so how come they are able to continue then.
Don't get me wrong our manager and owners are to blame for the position we are in, but fuck me what a load of shite, especially considering if they had changed it to the top 3 went up with no play offs the voting would have totally changed and we would have been finishing the league

And if what I read correct if we had won that game and the Gillingham game, as we should, we would now be promoted?

Conversely, the referee decisions on Boxing Day and New Year's Day also played just as much a part in seeing us where we are.
