I talking about FA Cups tbf.

Worth mentioning without this 'Sky Boy' era that is held with such disdain on here that we were only one behind having the most FA Cup wins in it's history.
Worth mentioning your clocking on towards 3/4s of a century without winning it

Newcastle United were 2 behind the most FA Cup wins before the Premier League started, Spurs had already won 8 FA Cups.

So they were, my bad. That's what I get for exclusively looking at FA Cup wins since the Premier League's inception.
Never in a month of Sundays would Everton have appointed Bruce.

Neither should Newcastle have tbh. Having said Everton appointed Allardyce and he was worse at Sunderland than Bruce was.

FA cups won back as far as the 1950's don't count on here silly, to long ago.

obviously things won back in the 1800's are still very relevant though, must not forgot those.

How do you define yourselves as having the largest "passionate" fanbase?
While you have good numbers at games you are no more passionate about your club than anyone else.
The amount of times they've been on the telly live and the commentator says it's very quiet at St James Park tells you that they aren't

The north east has always had a madder and more passionate support than most. I include Sunderland in that. I would class Sunderland fans as more passionate than Chelsea or Arsenal fans for example

Big 5 clubs in the 80s? Newcastle were one of the big 5 clubs in the 00s!

Also people conveniently forget Newcastles 5 fa cups and we have apparently won f all so I don't see any difference

Bullshit there was only really Manchester United and Arsenal during the early years of this century , that then turned into the “big 4“ when Chelsea and Liverpool improved and started winning things again, then it was the “big 6“ when Manchester City and Spurs were added more recently, in the mid 90s Newcastle were very good and and were definitely seen as being a top club at that time.

Eh? I must have imagined us finishing 4th 3rd 5th then in the early 00s

Aye to be honest SJP is like a morgue nowadays same as mos grounds. However our away support is second to none.

In your history you’ve had 10 top 3 finishes. Four of them have been in the Premiership era.
We’ve had 19, so up until football was invented in 1992 we’d had 19 top 3 finishes to your 6.
Always in your shadow.

All very impressive. Wasn't the league considted of about 10 teams when you were winning it though?

Or on the other hand you have had 3 top ten finishes in the last half century!

I'll take you word for it we have 10.
I enjoyed four of those top 3 finish seasons, how many of your 19 did you enjoy?

To be honest I just want the NUFC I grew up with back. A club which strived to be the best it could be and give the likes of Man U and Barcelona hidings and reached for the stars. That's what I was used to and grew up on. Same as most mags in their late 20s-30s.

Regular top 6 finishes and European football more often than not and seeing our team break the world transfer record. Like anything in life if you grow used to a certain standard then things drop below that standard you won't be happy until you get back to where you were before.

Man U fans complaining about only winning the fa cup and only coming 5th seems daft, but that's because they grew up with far better.

Oh lord...
Where to begin.

Manchester United are incomparable to us.

We broke the transfer record once, we gave Man Utd one hiding and they'd already beaten us 4-0 at Wembley that year. The biggest hiding was Schmeichel having the game of his life and us losing the 12 point lead. I'd swap that 5-0 tomorrow if I could have had a scrappy off Darren Peacocks right arse cheek to beat them to that title.

But anyway, I sort of get what you're saying but the only part I agree with is 'a club striving to be the best it could be' and that's something that none of the North East Clubs have done for some time now. Striving to be the best might not mean getting into Europe, but it might mean having a go. It might be not appointing Joe Kinnear (or Moyes)

There is a pocket of our fanbase who were lucky enough to grow up with Keegan whereas I had Richard Dinnis who made Pardew look like Guardiola. Gordon Lee (who ironically went to Everton) was equally awful from a footballing point of view.

But even if you had Keegan you had Ardiles before, Dalglish and Gullit aftewards...it was hardly all roses.

I'm just reminded at the utterly depressing state of North East football

Fantastic to see NUFC take the knee today at training to show solidarity with what is happening in the USA.
How ironic. You mock a grieving woman protesting against her husband's murderers taking on your club, but you show solidarity to the USA protesters. Absolutely pathetic behaviour!

who was mocking a grieving woman, Mad Cyril or the NUFC players, wasn't 100% on who you meant.

And Willie Mcfaul who was promoted to manager
