Whisky

Got a bottle of Glen Keith malt included with my Morrison’s click and collect and when I opened the box last night it still had the security tag on!

Fortunately it doesn’t affect pouring, it just looks bloody stupid and if the bin men spot it in the recycling they’ll think I’ve been shoplifting 😂

Got the same thing with a Bunnahabhain Stiùireadair from Sainsbury’s....the amount of other beer, wine and malt bottles will disguise it
Passion for whisky got the Scarabus on at 45 euros a litre...v good price

I'm a philistine, I prefer bourbon. I know it's like comparing Robbie Williams to Dylan. I often get 80 to 100 euro bottles for presents off the parents but I just don't like it much unless it's in a cocktail. I usually give the bottles away to Spanish mates who appreciate it much more than I do. I like Jamesons, I know I'm showing philistine tendencies again.

What do the resident connoisseurs think of Highland Black from Aldi? Very acceptable imo and only £12.99.

Nose is pretty bad, palate is better, but the finish is very bitter. Still better than Bells though imo.

Others on the thread have the same preference. As per Redby above, a good whisk(e)y is whichever one you enjoy. Everything else is just waffle, albeit I’m nerdy enough to find that interesting.

Nowt matter with a bit of bourbon or more especially a good Irish . That redbreast 15 I have just got is a good as any scotch I have had. But I freely admit I am no expert.

Just went for the Auchroisk 10 from Loch Fyne. Used welcome10 code for 10% off down to £31.50

I've got a greater selection of bourbon than I have scotch, I do love a good scotch but it was bourbon that first took my fancy after a night on the bells aged about 13 almost ruined scotch for me entirely.

As shakerman rightly points out though, a good whisk(e)y is one you enjoy and who's to tell you you should or you shouldn't enjoy it?

Dilemma...due to a refund from something else I’ve a £55 quid credit on credit card and it’s a pain getting credits repaid...so might as well buy a bottle
thoughts....Glendronach 15 available with discount from Loch Fyne about £55 free delivery
Whisky Broker Tomintoul 14 yr old £55 with delivery
Hunter Laing Craigellachie 8 yr old £50 with the £20 off

another option is spending more for the Glendronach 18...sure @shakerman can advise if the 18 is worth the £35 or so extra

any other suggestions around the price mark...

third world problems and all that

The 18yo is good and worth the price but the bottle I’d recommend for an extra tenner is Abbey Whisky’s own 11yo Caol Ila bottling. Can rarely go wrong with young Caol Ila but that one is a cut above. Pretty sure they have free postage at the moment too.
For something different there’s also a peated Glenglassaugh which you rarely see. I bought a bottle on the recommendation of a couple of mates a couple of days ago, waiting for delivery.

Ordered this after seeing the love on here. So did everyone else it seems as was meant to arrive on the !5th and has finally appeared today. Looking forward to later!
Think they were out of it for a bit. I messed about and when I finally decided to have a dip there was none , not at £30 anyway. Just stuck an order in now 👍

This seems decent at the price and right on budget...
