Normally I'd agree with this (although I'd maybe hold back on walk away with nothing lined up if you've got dependants) but at the moment unless you've got a very niche, desirable skill set you might struggle to find something. My contract is due to finish at the end of July and I don't fancy going on the market. My usual advice would be to walk away but given how things are panning out, I would hang around for a bit and hope the decision is taken out of your hands and you can walk away with a wedge of cash. Think there'll be a lot of redundancies flying about soon.
Nothing wrong in preparing for the new job by starting to don a pair of Speedos for video calls.
I think he could buy a shell bracelet/necklace combo from Amazon to meet the qualifying criteria. He`ll be off and away after that. Send us a postcardI suspect thats not enough dude
Perfect. Just watch a couple of YouTube vids and make sure you stick to teaching first timers. No but my hair is getting longer and I have a t-shirt tan.
No chance, partly because the markets shit and mainly because I only rejoined recently and if I leave within 2 years I would have to repay my sign on payment.
Saying that our employer is notoriously ruthless so at some point me and @Charmless Man might not have a choice.
The internal rumour mill is wild currently.
I've never been through a cycle like this but I expect that most people who have quite a profitable economic profile, and are on chargeable work, are fairly safe in most cases.
It'll be the internal, none chargeable folk who feel the pinch first.
Or people who find themselves without a role when the shit hits the fan.
Just managed to avoid the cull at my place and been told we are the future of the business in my department and a new retention bonus scheme will be announced in January. Wouldn’t dare move at the moment scary times ahead and thankful that currently my job seems to be secure despite being furloughed.
Not sure it’s just the rumour mill, depending on which division your in they are already going through a consultation.
Only about 5% though and surprisingly a lot of partners looking at the communications.
The bench is huge mind and the current round was apparently due to overcapacity. So it will be Q4 when Covid hits that Id expect an even greater cull. Been here long enough to realise it’s an occupational hazard.
Yep. Our division is actually doing great sales wise - public sector and all.
There's a profitability challenge and senior people are being asked to spread themselves more thinly, which tallies with them being at risk.
Aye mate. Might I be regretting that post already? Haven’t looked at it today. You on the company Yammer?
I’ve done similar, but sitting in a meeting.Take his calls but log the start and end times of them. If he accuses you of missing a deadline, email him a list of the calls and the total time spent on them. Copy your union rep in on the email.

Is anyone else pissed off with their employer and considering walking away to become a nomadic surf instructor in Cornwall?
Or is it a bad idea? Should we stay in jobs that we hate?
