He does!

If I remember correctly his (now) agent is actually the same person who was in charge of negotiations on behalf of SAFC when she was employed by Ellis Short?
Indeed Mags Byrne, for a long time Short gave her Carte Blanche in the running of the club.

If an agent gets 10% of earnings - they would be taking hundreds of thousands of pounds from a League One club for doing nothing

I can't imagine how rotten you must be to do that

"Yes. Anybody who wanted to buy the club would likely buy the holding company, and the holding company of Sunderland is Madrox.

"The reality of it is, if somebody buys or wanted to buy Sunderland Football Club they would most likely acquire Madrox.

"You could buy the club from Madrox, but you would have to get approval from all the people who are owed money by Madrox, which is now myself, Juan, Charlie and the guys from America.

"So in practical terms you wouldn't do that. You would just acquire the holding company."'

The interviewer put him on the spot and he yet again couldn‘t give a straight answer. Do you honestly believe that he’d agree to someone buying the club from Madrox, thus leaving him with a debt on Madrox’s books to write off, which is essentially his money?

Donald never expected to still be around and paying them the problem he thought would be the new owners
This.

That's why he appointed Hill, Reid and Coton. He got his mates into doing the jobs in the short term. Basically just keeping things ticking over until the sale. Academy, recruitment, scouting, the senior squad will all be problems for the next owner. The same with any outstanding debts like this.

Nail on head. He was expecting to be here a year as owner and everything you have stated above points to it.
Look at the Will Grigg transfer for further evidence if it "being someone else's problem". Despite being advised by everyone at the club to stop, he spent what, 4 transfer windows worth of the club's funds on it? These are not the actions of someone expecting to still be in charge even in the summer never mind beyond that.

What exactly isn't straight about it?

If you were looking to buy the club, you could just buy the club from Madrox but you'd more likely buy Madrox. I don't see why you're having such difficulty with this.

Do you recall him saying that Madrox and it’s ‘confidential’ investors were looking at other leisure ventures to purchase/invest in? Why would someone wanting to buy the club necessarily be interested in purchasing those other investments?

As for what’s not straight about it, you just need to look at your bolded comments to se that:

likey buy Madrox
Most likely buy mAdrox
Could buy the club from Madrox
to finally ’you would just acquire the holding company’

Thats 4 different Answers to the one question in the space of 45 seconds or so

He made this statement a long time before he said they were interested in investing in other ventures.

Have you considered the possibility that at the time he made the statement they hadn't planned on investing in other ventures, but then later they decided they might fancy it?

No, I haven't considered that because he said in an interview not long after they got the club that they'd be looking into other ventures, using the 'hotel' option as an example. So this isn't new news.

Funnily enough Sartori is interested in buying a second division Uruguayan club. Madrox have stated they are looking into more ventures into the sports and leisure industry. I wonder are Madrox going to be the vehicle for that purchase?

You have to wonder. How damning would it be though if he said 'thanks but no thanks' and bought it without them and made it successful!!
