Hence he went to China instead of back to his family.
I said his main motivation when signing for us was being close to his family, i didn't mention China.
I think his main motivation for going to China was the quadrupling of his salary.

Not sure what point you are trying to make.
It is safe to say that most people would prefer to work near their family and that people willing to work away from home will do so if the money is tempting enough.

He was rich enough to stay with his family in Liverpool and on the nash but he went to you. He has gone to China despite being filthy rich. There is no sentiment there man. He is money hungry. Don't kid yourself.

Do you not think moving forward into this exciting new era you would rather not go for someone who is slightly less dull, methodical and functional?

To be honest i've seen as many journalists and pundits defending Bruce criticising Newcastle fans for their obsession with Rafa. Newcastle fans on every other issue would hand on every word shearer says but not if he criticies rafa or praises Bruce. Rafa did an average job for Newcastle. Bruce has done slightly better so far after been given Joelinton to have at his disposal instead of Rondon and Perez.
I would agree with you when you say that you will see plenty of journalists criticise Newcastle fans if they feel they are being anti Bruce because of a obsession with Rafa.

I think the overwhelming consensus of journalists, players and pundits is:
Rafa is a very good manager
Rafa did a good job at Newcastle.
Steve Bruce has done a very good job especially as it's under difficult circumstances
Newcastle fans shouldn't give Bruce a hard time because they are disappointed at losing Rafa.
Bruce is a really sound bloke.

This seems to be the overwhelming view which I share with them and the only people I really see disagree is Sunderland fans and Richard keys who both think Rafa is a shit manager.

I'm rich enough to stay in Newcastle with my family but if someone offers me 25 million a year I'm on a plane to China tomorrow.......
I don't see the point you are trying to make nor am i kidding myself, i know he went to Chine because of the massive pay day.
I'm sure he is money hungry, so am i, it isn't an issue for me.

Rafa isn't my preferred choice as manager should the take over go through, I have never implied he is.
All I am saying is when you lot say Rafa is a shit manager I disagree i think he is a very good one.

Do you think he did a good job the season you were relegated, his portion of the fixtures?

if I’ve said it once I’ve said it 1000 time’s, Steve Bruce is doing no better nor worse than Benitez.
In fact if anything he’s doing better in the way he had to lose his goal scorers and was given Jolinton in return.

Aye. I think he's been getting unfair stick.
He's doing a canny job.

The correct answer is Alan Pardew. 5th place, the best Mag manager for generation and no relegation on his Newcastle CV.
He kept losing to us though and we got to a cup final while he was there.
Brilliant.

NUFC 18/19 19/20
Attack
Goals 16th 20th
Shots F 14th 17th
Shots OT 16th 18th
Poss % 19th 20th

Defensive
GA 8th 13th
Shots A 9th 17th
Tackles 4th 14th
Intercept 4th 11th

Attack is a little worse, defense is much, much worse.
Few shy of 500 lines.
Under Rafa Barca of the North were 19th in possession

Yes I would say so.
The team was at sixes and sevens when he took over, it took him a few games to get them organised but after that they looked a much better side.
He had 10 games and got 13 points, went unbeaten in the last six games which included games against City, Liverpool and Spurs, battered Spurs 5-1 and managed not to lose to you c*nts.
His points ratio if played out of a full season works out at 49.4 which would have seen us finish 11th.

i think with the team he had he did a good job yeh,
I'm guessing you think he was appalling though.

Of course it was.

No "project" etc... merely down to £ as proven when he went to China for yet more £'s.

Ashley's fault obviously.

He’s certainly mate done nothing to warrant losing his job. If any potential new owners wanted to bring in a marquee manager then it’d be harsh but that’s life. He would walk away with his head held high and he’d get another premier league club I reckon.

Obviously the salary always plays a big part in the decision but i don't think it was astronomical relatively speaking. he was getting 6 million a year, Unai Emery and Hasenhuttl get the same, Pellegrini gets 7 million, Solskjaer 7.5 million.
I think it would be fair to say that most Newcastle fans felt we had punched above our weight when we brought Rafa in. I think his biggest motivation in signing for us was the desire to be back in England with his family.

I think it was surprising following carver / mclaren that Ashley brought on somebody with his past pedigree. Managers know the constrictions placed by Ashley so there’s no shadow of a doubt a 6 million pound a year wage played a big part.
He would have also liked the challenge of a relatively big club with big support. I’m not suggesting he only came for the money but it certainly helps.
Thing is with Benitez, and I’ll always maintain this about him, his ‘achievements’ at NUFC did nothing to get him a bigger club in England hence his options being limited once Ashley called his bluff.
