So, essentially they are attempting to convert the parachute payments into profit, then bugger off with that cash?

Hi Connor. I write about Newcastle but a whole selection of writers from The Athletic, including George, are working on a big Sunderland piece, which they have been gathering material for over a long period

I keep saying the same thing over and over again. I fear for the whole future of the club with the current owners involved. Clearly, here to make a quick buck, something that has spectacularly backfired, given the shambolic range of appointments they made across the club, from manager to players to scouts. They tried to pretend they cared, when it has become clearly obvious they do not. They lack basic football knowledge and experience, and we bought into it as we were (or at least we thought we were) at our lowest ebb. They will sell my beloved SAFC to anyone with the money. That should terrify supporters as there are many 'Venkey's and Oystens' around just waiting for an opportunity. These chancers don't care about the supporters or the club, otherwise they would have done everything in their power to sell it to the Americans. Get them out of the club, in whatever way we can, or we are in danger of losing it altogether. They hijacked STID2, from an editorial point of view, which was an obvious attempt to save themselves with the supporters. They, not for the first time, underestimated us as most of us can see through it. They are shameful chancers who think we are the same as Oxford United. We are not. We are a big club, something for all their talk, they didn't understand and, in fact, still don't. Fuck off Donald and take your cronies with you.

REVEALED: Accounts show Sunderland owners write off £20.5m of parachute money borrowed to buy club in 2018, causing prospective buyers to walk away. SAFC now insist Donald/Sartori/Methven will repay money by way of "gift" or "shareholder funds". Full story
