RAWA shouldn't have gotten involved. DIdn't they meet Stewart a week or two before the statement? If they had something to say, they should have said it to his face.
Whether it was correct or not is immaterial. RAWA had a privileged position to question the ownership which has been compromised

Never heard this.

'Subs bench' - tee hee!

After the meeting I attended, there were several e-mail exchanges between the RAWA people at that meeting, and there was irritation over how long it was taking. Even though we knew the content relating to how the deal was structured was going to go down like a lead balloon, and I knew I was going to have a difficult day dealing with the responses which were going to result (it did go down like a lead balloon, and I did have a difficult day, which I needed to support of Dave Rose and a couple of others to get through in one piece).

To be fair I've already said i agree with you on that point. They obviously had their reasons for agreeing to add their name to it though, and the people who decided it are in elected positions so if the members aren't happy they can vote them out. Again, despite that, I still think they should have waited and got the members to vote on something so potentially divisive, but it's done now, I'm sure they'd consider doing it differently next time.
Hope so. I certainly don't think the majority of supporters would have backed the timing and wording of the action which I am sure is why RAWA rushed it through.

I remember the thread on here when the statement was released, now I know this place isn't necessarily representative but I certainly remember the vast majority of comments being supportive, same on twitter. Be interesting if anyone knows where the thread is just to confirm

Can you think of any other reason why they would ignore their members to rush something so serious through?

No idea. The poll @Wearside Wanderer II linked to shows a majority in support of it though, and the thread from the time is overwhelmingly positive about the statement. That's not to say no one was criticising it, theres a fair few on the who are, but they were massively outnumbered by those who agreed with it.

The poll is not a representation of all Sunderland fans though or even the majority of the SMB.
The RAWA board clearly did not want to risk their opinions being knocked back by asking their members for support.

I think it's because whoever made the decision used his loaf and could see that removing Donald from Sunderland is best for all concerned.

Whoever made the decision to back the statement needs praising. Well done that man
Indeed. Anyone who looks at what has happened since the statement and can see anything other than total vindication for it has a poor understanding of the performance of our club. And anyone who blames the statement for our continuing poor performance is simply equivocating for a failure of an owner.

The majority want him gone. He needs to go and stop hoping that the passage of time and a netflix series changes people's minds - it won't. If that means reducing his asking price then that's what he needs to do.

Every day he's here makes promotion next year even less likely. A fourth season in this division then beckons.....
