Why would that bother you above all else? No, zero hours contracts have never bothered me, I have always been of the mind if you don't like your companies pay or conditions go work for someone else.
Also the sports direct signs didn't bother me, what bothered me is that he didn't pay the club the going rate for them.
See happy with paying poverty wages but not happy at a few plastic signs around the ground. No, zero hours contracts have never bothered me, I have always been of the mind if you don't like your companies pay or conditions go work for someone else.

But but but, look over there, zero hours contracts.
It is Sportswashing, it absolutely is. Nobody should defend the atrocities carried out by the Saudi regime.I take it you aren’t aware that the Premier league have been trying for several years to sue the Saudi’s for this piracy and only a few weeks ago asked the USA to keep the Saudi regime on their list of dodgy characters. However money talks, so the F.A. will simply perform an embarrassing u turn and accept them into the fold.
And there you go again defending the Saudi regime and trying to cast doubt on their involvement. In an earlier post you were trying to claim they don’t stone people for what civilised people accept as everyday behaviour. Everyone knows what’s going on over there, it’s been well documented over the years. They haven’t put a penny into the club yet, but people like you are already doing what they’re after. If anyone claims that Sportwashing doesn’t work, I shall simply refer them to your posts.
Obviously you’re happy to accept the Saudi pieces of silver to help your club buy trophies, but trying to defend their actions is a new low which even mags shouldn’t sink to.
Very balanced and fair.It is Sportswashing, it absolutely is. Nobody should defend the atrocities carried out by the Saudi regime.
I don't think it's up to fans to dictate the domestic or international policies of a foreign power, that should be up to those with actual power like the government. Only way we, as fans, can influence that is by voting in a party that aligns with with our personal ideologies. Fans don't have the power to pick and choose who owns their club (I think they should have more of a say as they do in Germany, but that's another story). If we did, we'd have got shot of Ashley long ago, and I'm sure you'd have wanted rid of Donald.
All Newcastle fans can do is educate ourselves on what the Saudis are doing to their people and Yemen etc. Personally, I can compartmentalise my support for my club, from my criticism of the Saudi regime. I won't defend them. Just like I won't defend the practices of Amazon, Nike, or whoever, despite using their services/products.
Do those companies represent a community? The Saudis & Qataris own half of London with the amount of property they have bought down there (The Qataris own more of London than the Queen)
All this faux outrage at them buying a football club is ridiculous when you sit back and realise that the government is in bed with the Saudis selling them 5 billion pounds worth of arms deals & the amount of property they have snapped up in the capital.
They also part own the independent and evening standard newspapers
Boris Johnson has predicted a 65 billion investment from Saudi over the next decade in almost every sector
Not one person pipes up but all of a sudden it's a disgrace because they want to buy a football club
Queue sudden faux outrage at a regime they couldn't give two shits about before because our neighbours might actually win something for once.
Embarassing
Pointless argument full of whataboutery. I'm obviously a hipster in this discussion as I hated the SA regime before it was cool. But say I didn't, am I not allowed to be angry about something because I only heard about it once I had a vested interest? The Saudis & Qataris own half of London with the amount of property they have bought down there (The Qataris own more of London than the Queen)

I am 100% in tandem with you on this so lets agree to disagree.I literally can't even be arsed to get into a debate with you if your that narrow minded.
I didn't say above all else. Why would that bother you above all else?
What? He loaned us £150 million! He owns the Club, lock, stock and barrel. It's a myth that the "free" advertising was of significant value.my issue was not giving the club the going rate for the space.
Even to Ashley it's "worth" £2m a year. If you think that's insignificant, then that's that, but I'd say £2m a year is significant, I'd also say it's on the cheap side. What? Yes I'm saying that it's only natural for football fans to take notice of things when it's to do with football. He is not arguing against the takeover from a football perspective, if he was there are some valid points he could raise.
He is arguing against it from a moral stand point, he is saying they should not be able to make the purchase because they are a evil regime. If you are taking that stand point it's not reasonable to argue it's fine for them to buy into X & Y but not if they buy into Z.
If you want to argue that the Saudi's should not be able to do business with the UK until they clean up their act then that is a valid argument.
If your argument is it's fine for the Saudi's to do business with the UK apart from the business of NUFC because I don't like them then you don't really have a rational argument.
On a turnover of £180 million? So just over 1%? Yes, it's insignificant. If you think that's insignificant, then that's that, but I'd say £2m a year is significant
“If yer hate New-castle they’ll chop off yer hands....”
I think @The Fish summed up my sentiments very well a few posts back.Yes I'm saying that it's only natural for football fans to take notice of things when it's to do with football.
Like I say, a Saudi government takeover of (as you said) Dyson would get attention in the relevant industry
I'm not sure the, "Where were you when the Saudis XYZ' argument is particularly relevant. Of course football fans take notice when football gets involved in something like this. It's an opportunity to learn about it through the lens of something close to home
The sponsorship thing was just another red herring from the fans. For what the income would have been it was small fry. Loads of clubs owners advertise their own company without a flicker of interest. On a turnover of £180 million? So just over 1%? Yes, it's insignificant.
