our owers..the curret ones..and the one immediately prior..certainly spnt the money poorly..

no owners have a bottomless pit..they jsut get ored ad fuck off if it doest work..

argualy..this is what happened to us with sartori..who on his own is richer than a good few of the premier league owners mentioned on that list.

surely liverpool footballers live in cheshire..same as man utd ad mac city players?

not sure mate but you get my point.

It's a huge moral argument, and not one that I can honestly claim to know the answer to. And you're right, governments do look the other way - ours, the US, whoever - because they care more about money. You care more about football. And I get that, to some extent - but sportwashing is real. That's why they're here. PIF (not Staveley. She's just a front: a savvy business woman, joining dots to get rich quick) are buying NUFC for no other reason than to wash their image.

This is a deliberate attempt to deflect from absolutely appalling, daily atrocities.

Yemen, state-sponsored murder, the trashing of human-rights, gay rights (looking forward to some awkward looks on rainbow laces day), women's rights, I mean, it just goes on and on.

I just don't think you can be on here saying, oh, you lot didn't care, what about Sheff United, Chelsea, etc etc, when, for me, that's not the issue - that's just deflecting from saying, "I know it goes on. And I don't care. Top eight is more important" - which, I guess, is a bloody (no pun intended) hard statement to make. But your fight isn't with us, is it? It's with your own conscience.

And what does sit a little awkwardly in this, is you did have a conscience when it came to Fat Mike. You (the fan base) not only protested him, you protested his company, and had issues with his ways of working. Well, when you weren't winning, anyway. And the two aren't anywhere near comparable.

Now, would Sunderland fans suddenly gain a conscience if it was being thrown billions? The overwhelming vast majority, no, absolutely not. And I don't know what you'd do even if you did listen to what's "right". But you do need to stop pointing at other people - Sheff United, Labour, etc - as justification for what's happening. The Saudi stink is yours now, and will always be there - but maybe you won't notice/care if you sign Kylian Mbappe.

They absolutely are as wealthy as they claim to be. Unfathomable wealth. The head of the PIF has a painting worth more than Newcastle United.
Would we not bring up Sheff Utd and labour etc as justification? Excellent post mind.

What everyone’s guess on the next takeover. I think it’ll be Leeds. QSI who own PSG are buying them upon promotion. Then I am guessing North Korea buy Bournemouth well why not if owners like MBS can pass checks

leeds willc ertainly be bouight out..they are on the block for only £150m...big club decet fabase great history...definitely a better deal than buying safc right now..

palace america owners are also keen to sell i think..and london clubs usually fetch a few quid..eve if less glamourous ones..

The point he is making is that no amount of justification absolves what the Saudi's are doing and he is of course 100% correct. I merely chose to state them to highlight the hypocrisy on here (and other platforms from other fans). He is of course again correct that we need to be guided by our own moral compass. I'm assuming that I can support my club whilst not supporting the Saudi regime that seems painfully obvious. The same way you can support Brexit and not necessarily the Tories (horrible example).

In an ideal world politics would have no home in sport but he is right it is infiltrating. It won't stop me supporting my club though nor does that make me an awful human being that condones their goings on.

I think they're relevant, in so much that they have questions to answer - but I think there has to be a point where people take responsibility for their own actions, and not just say, they did first, so we're in the clear.

Its not how much you have, but how wisely you spend it.
(although, admittedly, having a bottomless pit will help!)
Will this now make NUFC the most disliked club in England?
Doubt it. Only the top 6 team supporters will be unhappy that their exclusive club is getting a new member. I'd love for another team to break into it I just wish it wasnt f***ing Newcastle

That makes sense. Build the club and make it sufficient. That way they won't break FFP rules and will be in a position to challenge in the future. Will the Mags be patient enough with that?

As for sportwashing. Dictators and totalitarian regimes have used sport to promote their good side. The Berlin Games in 36, Franco and Real Madrid, the World Cups in Italy in 34 and Argentina in 78. The list goes on. Remember the outrage when Beijing won the 2008 games or when Russia were awarded the 2018 World Cup?

If you think all of the above are wrong then you have to say this takeover is wrong. The Saudis are using sport to cover up and paint an image of good nation. And the hypocritical nature of sport and the lure of money is driving it. Anthony Joshua wants more fights out there. The WWE and UFC want to hold more events out there. We are driving this.

Maybe it's time athletes and organizations just said NO to them. But that'll never happen.

Leeds don't have a great history.

oh but they do..recent history anyway...champios leasgue semi finalists..won the league more recent than many other teams in the top flight..including "big teams" in the top flight..
Won more in recent memory than the Mags and us combined. When I say recent I mean since the 60's. It was ignorant comment by the OP.

A league win 30 years ago gives them a great history? They had a good team in the late 60's early 70's and a good spell in the 90's. Other than that done nothing of note. They haven't played int he top flight for 15+ years.

At a guess they would be bottom half of the top flight at best on trophies won.

Dark dark days for SAFC and the City of Sunderland this. Could eb the final nail in the coffin for both, as NUFC will start challenging at the very top and Newcastle as a City will undoubtedly excel even further ahead of Sunderland and the rest of Tyne and Wear.

Praying for a miracle.
