good point,i cant imagine jews(reuben bothers) wanting to form a company with muslims
Naive!

Do you think those 'wholesome Christians' in charge of IBM felt the same way when it came to trading with Nazi Germany?

Money trumps all

My Mam worked for her for a few years. Says that she is actually a really nice, diligent MP who genuinely cares about her constituents. That said following the ' It's all fat Mikes fault party line is likely to win her many, many votes.

I've met her on a few occasions and it's clear that she cares and is diligent. That's the reason why she's spoken out against Ashley after hitting a brick wall with him.

It's a huge moral argument, and not one that I can honestly claim to know the answer to. And you're right, governments do look the other way - ours, the US, whoever - because they care more about money. You care more about football. And I get that, to some extent - but sportwashing is real. That's why they're here. PIF (not Staveley. She's just a front: a savvy business woman, joining dots to get rich quick) are buying NUFC for no other reason than to wash their image.

This is a deliberate attempt to deflect from absolutely appalling, daily atrocities.

Yemen, state-sponsored murder, the trashing of human-rights, gay rights (looking forward to some awkward looks on rainbow laces day), women's rights, I mean, it just goes on and on.

I just don't think you can be on here saying, oh, you lot didn't care, what about Sheff United, Chelsea, etc etc, when, for me, that's not the issue - that's just deflecting from saying, "I know it goes on. And I don't care. Top eight is more important" - which, I guess, is a bloody (no pun intended) hard statement to make. But your fight isn't with us, is it? It's with your own conscience.

And what does sit a little awkwardly in this, is you did have a conscience when it came to Fat Mike. You (the fan base) not only protested him, you protested his company, and had issues with his ways of working. Well, when you weren't winning, anyway. And the two aren't anywhere near comparable.

Now, would Sunderland fans suddenly gain a conscience if it was being thrown billions? The overwhelming vast majority, no, absolutely not. And I don't know what you'd do even if you did listen to what's "right". But you do need to stop pointing at other people - Sheff United, Labour, etc - as justification for what's happening. The Saudi stink is yours now, and will always be there - but maybe you won't notice/care if you sign Kylian Mbappe.

They absolutely are as wealthy as they claim to be. Unfathomable wealth. The head of the PIF has a painting worth more than Newcastle United.
Brilliant post!

If they are as wealthy as they claim to be why don’t they just buy them outright?
because they want others to run it..and best way to do that is to let them have a stake in it...

man city owners are obviously very wealthy..but they dont own it outright now weither..have twice sold shares in it..
because they are i it for profit..
people on here think these guys are philantropists..

I’ve not seen many if any on here imply their motives are altruistic.

norwhich owers less wealthy than SD..yet are in the premier legaue..
watford owner less wealthy than ours...
maybe money isnt verything eh?

Its not how much you have, but how wisely you spend it.
(although, admittedly, having a bottomless pit will help!)
Will this now make NUFC the most disliked club in England?

its a concistent theme on this baord that that our owners are only in it to make a profit..as if that makes them unqiue..
and that othwer club owners arent..
I’m not referring to our owners. The topic was the potential new owners of NUFC.

Absolutely true. Bet they have owners who are committed and not try to make a quick buck.

I think Liverpool are the perfect example. Their owners are worth $2.7B and are light years ahead of Man City. Money talks but I still think players will want to live in London/Manchester for less wages or at least their wives will. I remember them blowing millions on Michael Owen... that worked out well. Shearer ticked all boxes, From the area, all time leading scorer.
