Aye mate I can see what you're saying there. I'm 32 so just missed the start of the rise and got on board during its peak

Ploughed a lot of money into the region at the same time
What about Bob Murray? I think he done a good job for yous.
Not into my region he didn’t, as I say he got rid of Durham Wasps which ultimately caused the closure of the ice rink . In my eyes he was a botwipe

I guess Pete hasn’t got this pic lol

Oh in not saying shes not nice in some pictures just in others she looks rotten.

Goofy eyes man funny man shaped head. Others though shes well fit l

Aye it seems that way when you look at our crowds in the 80s

One for the older generation... Did the influence of Sir John Hall and his PR give people who grew up supporting Newcastle United in the mid-late 90s a false impression that we are not as big as we think we are?

That's worded as if it's a false impression that you think you're big when in reality you're not as big as you think you are. I think you mean (or should do) that a false impression was given that you're bigger than what you actually are?

That was just a noise.

Aye mate worded it wrong. You kna what I mean

He gave a somewhat less than accurate view of everything. I recall seeing on tv an interview with him, which began with him and his buddies around a very expensive dinner table, making a statement about "what the geordie people want" as if he was some sort of demi-god.

It was, for him, a simple way to exploit many while looking like the hero. Putting pressure of McKeag to sell, for buttons while getting Keegan on board, just as the Sky money (but not wages as yet) came rolling in was a perfect storm. Spend a few quid, get full houses, make your money and run. So long as he fed the line of more and more greatness, the more he could get. When that started to evaporate, off he went.

I don't blame mag supporters for believing they would be a force across Europe, as that was what everyone was telling. For a while, their side could xompete with anyone on their day. That's all it was, though, on their day. Hall never showed any interest in taking that last step. Too much risk to the money he was making.

I couldn't stand the fella then, especially as we could see he was leading mag supporters on when push came to shove. Nothing has happened since then to change my mind.

He managed to get rid of Durham Wasps with his wild idea of a sporting club of Newcastle, that is how he wanted you to be, maybe that is where the delusion was spawned from
And indirectly took the Sunderland Chiefs out by moving the Wasps to Crowtree, and don't get me started on his treatment of Whitley Warriors.
Relegated from the premier to the fourth division overnight, with no chance of getting back.

Did you mean to say Hall gave the Keegan and afterwards generation an impression that they were "bigger" than they actually are? To this day, a lot of NUFC fans I have worked (and at times socialised) with have what (for the most part) is an unjustified superiority complex.
