Before you get your knickers in a twist and laugh at me comparing Newcastle to other clubs, I'm not. However, being wealthier than other clubs historically makes all the difference. Look at Real Madrid and the Galacticos etc when they fell down the pecking order even slightly they spent hugely. Money can make a massive impact. Obviously FFP brings about other issues but to suggest it doesn't play a key part is laughable.
So do

Arsenal
Everton
Leicester
Man Utd
Man City
Liverpool
Spurs

Not have money. For example if you bid for Kane and offered 100k a week more. Do you think he'd sign for NUFC or man utd?

Same for Sancho.

Money helps but man city still lose out on players to Madrid Barca English rivals.

Add a unglamorous part of the UK to the mix as well

There are a couple of alternative proposals. One is to stay on the existing site and turn the pitch through 90 degrees. This would create more space to develop the plot towards 80,000. The leaves would then be the main stand. East stand and Barrack Road would be behind the goals.
Edit Leaves = Leazes

What about Man City? He had no background in football beforehand, he just paid people that did.

No but Neymar went to PSG for money.

Aye cos PSG are a small club aren't they 😂

So far there isn't enough evidence to suggest you will be man city level investment.

hopefully all the journalists are wrong - but IF Saudi state money is buying 80% then I’d expect nothing less than Man City levels of investment.

Having spent quite a bit of time out there I would expect NUFC will become an extension of Saudi National pride and they will be anticipating success within a Champions League context.

Can’t understand why they didn’t go for a bigger club but they won’t be getting involved for Premier League mid table stability.

It does, people like Hulk and Oscar have went to China for 400K a week and no FFP. That’s not going to work, and also how many of them have moved back or are desperate.

China is different - the league isn't the same standard or as respected. It doesn't play in Champions League etc.

Brexit voters have their own stand?

The East Stand is the big problem as it backs onto Leazes Terrace which is a listed building. That stand cannot be built up at all ... its screwed. The Gallowgate stand can be given the same expansion that the Leazes stand got but due to where the metro runs it would be expensive to do (foundations are a problem apparently) and would need an elaborate and costly cantilever structure. Can be done though and get us up to around 65,000

If we are talking about elite players like Neymar, Mbappe etc i think thats obvious, I dont think people are being serious when they talk about them by the way.

But top, top class footballers will go anywhere where the money is.

There's nuermous examples.

But these people are talking about money. Also in respect the the quality of players- there’s been no elite players in their prime moving to China.

But the point stands the money paid over there can’t be paid in the PL for that kind of player. No european team is going to pay Oscar 400K a week.

Top players won’t want to come up here it’s facts. Say if Newcastle wanted a player with a London team, Milan or someone in Basque- they won’t want to move up here. Like it or not it’s a massive influence.

Top players have been happy to play in Liverpool and Manchester, so why not Newcastle?
Manchester may be thrice the size and have a huge airport, but it isn't exactly a great beauty bathed in golden sunlight.

Embarrassing thread. Our lot clutching like fuck at any possible straw whilst sad mags all over the place totally unmoderated.

Not really. The mags are understandably buzzing. While it's pretty obvious it's going through, I think there's definitely legitimate questions about who is actually involved and how much money they'll be investing.
