Think any football fan is uneasy when their rivals get associated with takeovers involving the stupidly. Maybe more so if it’s some exotic but unknown Russian / Arab / American. To a lesser degree there’s always a bit of trepidation when a new manager is appointed.
Basically it’s the fear of the unknown, maybe just maybe this new owner is going to take the rivals to the top. Granted it’s usually never the case but no matter what league your rivals are in it brings a certain amount of uneasiness about it.

If you in a difffent league though, it makes no difference at all to your teams performane and league position.

And football fans go to watch their teams games and their teams performances.

That's plainly silly. From 1892 until about 1955, Newcastle were an infinitely bigger club than Tottenham - as were Sunderland.

We had two world wars in that period man 😂

From post war Spurs have been the more successful club by a country mile

Just been looking at wealth of football owners there, there's only 5 teams in the PL not owned by billionaires. Newcastle are already owned by one after all.

I was surprised to see the net wealth of Barnsley's owners

they’ve got a few quid like, so we should be alright through this C-19 bollox .

Dear God, are people still using this patter?

Rocky if it didn’t bother you why comment lad? If you are a NUFC or SAFC either way either fan would be f***ing livid, stop denying it man, it’s just football.

What a f***ing deal for us, Ashley away and owned by the richest bloke we could get, I’m buzzing, you’d be.

See I disagree with that. I think it’s a great time to buy if you can, never likely to get a lower price then now. Buyers market IMO
Possibly, I mean in terms of new owners trying to make an impact. Some health expert yesterday saying the country could be in and out of lockdown for 18 months. I'm not sure how football will cope with that. Time will tell I suppose.

Don't blame the Mags for getting giddy about it at all. I'd be buzzing as well.

But, there's more to this than meets the eye. From the deal itself and the amount of time its been on the table, to the loan, to the current climate. I'm intrigued to see just exactly who is involved when it's all done. Similar to us with Dell, I do wonder if the Saudi government are being namedropped by someone who has connections to them. Certainly, this is going to keep them as a good PL side, but I really don't think it's possible or likely that they will be spending loads and challenging at the top.

Seen time and time again that he is selling the mags and nowt comes of it. He must have sold them 5 times in the past couple of years if the media are anything to go by.

If they do get sold then fair enough, they’ll still need quite a big rebuild to have no relegation fears - just like we’d need a rebuild to be confident of staying up in the championship should we get promoted.

Exactly, we got giddy when that FPP group were interested in investing.

Spurs have had a top 5 finish every decade since the 70s.

You've done it in two decades 😂

Spurs have won silverware recently. You haven't 😂

Continued success is not a patch. You haven't had continued success except the 90s

4 decades out of 5 for Newcastle.
1 top 5 finish in the 70s
8th was the best in the 80s
3 top 5 finishes in the 90s
3 top 5 finishes in 00s
1 top 5 finish in the 10s

if this was 11 years ago then I’d agree. The fact you can’t throw money into a football club in terms of buying players and paying silly wages anymore only means it’s what happenes off the pitch that will make any difference.

Don’t shoot the messenger but my mag cousin reckons that Ashley will still be involved with the club, advertising, match day revenue etc but Stavely will be doing the day to day running of the club with Saudi investment but still owing money to Ashley. It sounds a bit similar to when Short sold the club to Donald.

Not my words, before anyone starts!

What is he basing that on?

That's cute but Spurs have done it 18 times 😂 they've been in champions League final. They've won trophies recently. There's no comparison

It’s the intent to be the best our club can be instead of being a platform to advertise his shit shops while trousering the PL tv money making minimum investment in the infrastructure and squad to get by.

I’m not expecting anything out of the new owners other than wanting to have a club that invests in all of the above. I’m well aware of fair play rules.

On that theory you can’t be rivals unless you’re in the same league. I’m absolutely positive that both SAFC and NUFC fans still see themselves as rivals despite the gap.

“More than a club”. The chance to have the club back in the hearts and minds of supporters rather than a sub-division of Sports Direct.

I get that argument. Fair enough.

And yet, this 'richest bloke we could get' still needed to wait for the price to come down, needs a loan and has only actually bought 80%.

You should just be buzzing that you've got rid of Ashley. I'd be waiting for details about who is actually involved in this.

If this is man city esque this could evaporate though.

Who tunes in to watch Barcelona v Espanol?

I certainly wouldnt give a shit about derby Day anymore if it got like that
