Other than suggesting that, with his history, he might be pulling a fast one on her, the only other motive I can think off is that he needs this to get the deal over the line. What I don't know, and find unfathomable is why Ashley is doing it, and not the Reubens or the Saudis.

Nobody knows. In future accounts etc people more intelligent than me may be able to work it out but my guess is we will never know.

Both clubs are equally as far from their peak levels and have fallen incredibly far in terms of recovering lost ground.

It is a miracle Newcastle survive in the Premier League with the wage structure and discontent in the fan base.

He did. And it has. You can't stop reports coming out when things are public knowledge, but there has been no press release or comment from either side.

It's going through the EPL checks, so it's a ways down the line. I'm optimistic whilst worried something will go wrong.
