The staff's reaction to a high powered man from the home counties bringing about a very aggressive shift in culture in front of cameras was hardly surprising.

So Charlie failed then. Let's be honest here. The marketing and social media teams are the least of our worries. I've been saying it for awhile and I think it's got worse under Methven. If you compare it to my local club Bohemians, Bohs are years ahead of us.

The academy, recruitment and scouting teams are non-league. These 3 are the most important part of any football club. All 3 have underperformed and the club might not recover from it. I'd rather Fullwell 73 focused on that.

Going back to Bohs. We were 1 week from going busted. The first thing that changed was football operation. Once that was sort everything fella into place. Our marketing has won praise all over Europe. But if we were stuck in the First Division playing shite football all that means nothing. People aren't going to go to Dalymount because the run-out music is class. They are going because the club has built a good connection with the community and we have a good young and exciting team.

What have we got?
Good question!

People were full of praise for the media team last season. He isn't from here or a Sunderland fan but clearly loves his job and is passionate about the club and the area judging by his tweets.

twitter and media stuff has been much more engaging the last few years, but they do make some howlers like

was it ipswich away when they were advertising on the ifollow screen about getting players names printed on your new home shirt and they had the example shirt with the wrong spelling on?
Not being able to spell would appear to be a prerequisite.

Just my opinion but I think it's ridiculous that people are criticising staff based off a minute or 2 interaction on the series. Most of these are normal people in their jobs day to day and having a camera shoved in your face in an important meeting is fairly off putting.

FWIW the social media has improved markedly the last year or 2 anyway so he can't be that bad.
If this is what they are like in a 2 minute snippet, it's frightening to think what their performance is like over 37 hours

He was 100% correct though and CM needed to know these things, so IMO he was right to speak up about it.

I must admit I was surprised by some of the general negativity that staff appear to have in the episodes I have watched so far, but I wouldn't judge any of them on a few minutes TV coverage which is obviously heavily edited to create the storytellers narrative.

True enough like. Wasn't sure who he was when I watched it. Thought it was a sales bloke or the stadium announcer or something

I've had a few dealings with Chris Waters in the past, he's always been spot on, very proactive , very approachable and dedicated.
I'm only on episode 4 so haven't seen a lot of him yet, just so people realise we have some great people still.
Must admit the way it was edited made people look very negative, if they are really like that it's not for us to decide in few mins on film.
The scale of the problem at SAFC was and is monumental and they didn't / dont understand how to resolve it.
Stuart complained about prev owners and pissed money away on Grigg, exactly what he was moaning about.
The current economic climate may destroy us still, certainly no one is going to buy us with all this uncertainty and global debt.

Agree with what you say, but begs the question why SAFC fans would want to pursue this narrative ?

Head of media?

Was he the one oozing positivity?

Great contribution

Should have had a segment about the club's social media balls ups to give everyone a cringe laugh
Can we just stick to slagging players off mate. Step too far slating heads of media.
