I cant see it for the first two months of the season as loads of counties are on lock down and more to follow. Which will probably then see some local pros doing late switches for some hefty fees
I’m no medical expert but I don’t get where the physical proximity is in a game of cricket, especially if you eat teas on your own outside. Aside from the slip cordon you’re at least 10 yards apart.
Only if clubs are stupid enough to pay them
Never shook hands with a bowler who's taken a wicket or a batsmen who's got a 50 or ton ?

If 22 lads are left doing something else Saturday I bet they end up in closer contact with other people in whatever alternative activity they do.
It’ll save those trips in from the boundary to congratulate the bowler, the ones where by the time you get there the celebrations are finished and you turn straight back around and toddle off back to your post. No, just applauded.
And you can quite easily ban that sort of thing without harming the game much.
back to batting team as umpires, had some fun car journeys home when there’s been questionable lb decisions given against a teammateElderly umpires surely wouldn’t want to expose themselves to unecessary risks.
But the thing is: this won't be a problem for many, or not much of one, but if you don't take the precautions to wash hands etc and any other advice given you may well infect someone else who could be seriously effected by it and that person may be your older relatives, parent, uncle/aunt and so on. And, every person you infect will on average go onto to infect two others - and you will be infectious days before you develop symptoms.Certainly the right way to send morale through the floor. This nasty bug is going round, chances are you'll get it whatever. But we're going to stop the things you enjoy and look forward to anyway, things that get you through the shite things in life
the virus could be spread quite easily:
Shared changing rooms
Shaking hands
Everyone on the field touching the same ball
Celebrating wickets
Spitting on the ball
Host team preparing teas and then opposition and home players touching and eating it
Pints in the bar afterwards
Spectators talking to each other
Shouting obscenities at the umpire (only kidding)
Etc etc.....
I do get your point about most activities will end up with people in close contact, but for a while we are going to have to adapt our lifestyles and stop all such activities (if they’re unnecessary anyway)

I find that hard to believe, but fair enough.
What about throwing the ball or passing it back to the bowler ? If you’ve got a virus on your hands you’ll potentially transmit it or receive it.
Collecting subs ? You’ll know all about that
I agree, but it’s all about minimising risk.People won’t lock themselves away indefinitely and the alternatives to cricket will come with risk.

In the heat of a game it will be difficult to remember not to touch your face, rub your eyes etc
I’d be surprised if there isn’t eventually a directive from either the ECB or at a local level the DCB
Yeah I agree. The problem is that everyone tries to match the most safety-first organisation. Imagine being the one to hold firm and something goes wrong (which is why I think Welsh rugby caved this afternoon).
So yeah I think absolute caution will win out unfortunately.
Everyone will need to turn up in whitesI see that too.
Imagine how much better the scene would be if it was ploughing into facilities and junior coaches instead ☹

NEPL management meeting on Wednesday evening. ECB teleconference tomorrow with Premier Leagues. We will have more information after these meetingsAnyone else still having indoor nets? All cancelled at my club, no announcements from NEPL but there’s clearly no chance of the season getting underway in April.
I‘d guess very best case scenario may be a mini tournament at the back end of the season, odds must be on a complete write off though.
